Ron Paul's CPAC presentation will be on CSPAN today

Now there is a panel. Wonder when RP will be up?

What are you wearing, Spirit of '76? We'll keep an eye out for you in the crowd shots.

I was standing way in the back, right beside the Fox News booth. I probably won't be on camera.

Right beside me was a nice older gentleman from NC and his daughter. They were there with another organization, but he told me that he really only wanted to hear Ron Paul.

awesome...

did you encounter many neo-cons at the event?

As the camera pans to the audience, you can see people who look pissed and aren't clapping at all when everyone else is.

I even saw 1 guy tell his friend to stop clapping... haha.

It looks like we owned the place...

The truly hardcore neoconservatives (using the strict definitiion of the term) were conspicuously absent. Really the only strictly neoconservative organization I noticed there was the David Horowitz people.

The majority of attendees were probably Newt Gingrich-style conservatives -- big on projecting American military might, but not as open to the welfare state as the neocons.

In passing, I overheard a lot of comments like, `Yeah, Ron Paul's right on almost everything. It's just that whole anti-war thing..."

If we can only get them to see the bigger picture: Endless war necessitates the expansion of government and the destruction of families at home. Then they might start to come around.

Until then, they still want to flex their muscles and then send someone else's kids off to kill and be killed far from home.

hey, KC, is that Mononoke in your avatar? We're huge fans.

My thoughts exactly. Ron Paul and the movement have come a long way in a positive direction. Compared to last year, the reception of Ron seemed much greater, welcoming, and during his more 'controversial' moments he was either supported, or people were listening -- I didn't hear any booing. Quite a change from the 08 presidential primaries.

People are waking up, listening, trying to piece it together.

His opening about defining conservatism was awesome, and seemed to be well organized thought and words. I wished he had reinforced that thematic more throughout the speech and stuck with such piercingly organized talking points. Instead, he went on his typical sort of stream of consciousness speaking style, which doesn't serve him well when he's trying to communicate his ideas.

Overall, I give an A-minus.

Yup, Princess Mononoke, I wish I could have a tree spirit as a pet. :D
And I hope people wake up quickly!
