Ron Paul's Biggest Super Tuesday Success Came in a State He Never Visited

Vermont was the highlight* of Ron Paul’s otherwise disappointing Super Tuesday.

He went from 6.6 percent of the vote and no delegates in 2008 to 25 percent of the vote and 4 delegates in 2012, a major improvement when you realize his official campaign did very little in the state other than run a smattering of radio and TV ads. From phone banking to voter identification to canvassing, the Paul operation in Vermont was run almost entirely by his supporters. Unlike Alaska, North Dakota, Idaho, and Virginia, Paul never set foot in the Green Mountain state yet still managed to improve his result more there than anywhere else....

Another Reason article on us from a couple days before. This guy listened in on our final conference call and afterward showered Steve and I with praises over how we were the best organized grassroots he had yet to see, although he admitted he didn't understand how we were doing it. Too bad most of that didn't make it to print because you other people out there in primary states might be interested to know how we pulled off a win more fabulous than New Hampshire (and netting more delegates than Virginia) with the weakest (but still most appreciated!) support possible form the PCC outside of Florida.

Here's the goggle map so you can see how the state broke down. http://www.google.com/elections/ed/us/results?gclid=CLGY4seWla4CFecQNAod_h-pfa

Breakdown and percentages by county: http://www.foxnews.com/politics/elections/2012/vermont-primary-super-tuesday

Unofficial counts from the Sec o State's office: http://vtelectionresults.com/resultsSW.aspx?type=FED&map=MPRC

If Ron Paul had come here he would have won over 50%.

Not sure why no one else seems to get how significant this is. He proved he can get crossovers from Independents here. Aren't they the ones we need to beat Obama in the General?

Hi Aratus!

Haven't had a real chance to give a solid look to how Super Tuesday panned out. Thanks for the post and the links! + rep as well.

Hey, in Massachusetts we went from under 3% to 10%. I'd call that a success, although it would have been great to reach 15% and get those delegates.

It would seem he campaigned in all the wrong places.

It would seem Ron has been underestimating himself in places he shouldn't...

Great job. How did you do it by the way?
