Ron Paul Wins Iowa, Long After Mitt Romney and then Rick Santorum Supposedly Did

No matter how many times the Ron Paul campaign is declared over, it is not over. Long after its meaningless straw poll caucus vote in January, the long process of actually selecting delegates from the state to the national convention in Tampa is over, and here's the Paul campaign press release summing up the results:

Today is going to send a shockwave throughout the nation - just you wait and see! The coronation planned for August is now up for discussion.

Ron Paul decisively wins Iowa! Awesome news!

If only we could have been saying this about the meaningless, non-binding straw poll 165 days ago.

Oh thank goodness. I'm on vacation, and it's damn hard to read an iphone in the Florida sun. Finally back where I can play with my laptop. I was worried about this all day. (Even during the 3 Doors Down/ZZ Top concert :)

It won't. I'm willing to bet a great deal of money off of that, and several of my jobs have been based off of accurately predicting the responses of large groups of people. If people hear about this (and most aren't even paying attention) they'll just write it off as an outdated policy of a caucus state rather than anything significant.

That, however, doesn't change the equation going into Tampa, which is now better for Ron Paul than it otherwise would have been. I am not a fan of the caucus system, but as the rules stand it is fair for people to try to win through them.
