I don't think there is any doubt. All the articles are showing Ron Paul's picture. He was clearly the center of the debate. I wonder, in terms of actual speaking time, if Ron was near the top?

This debate might really mark a defining moment.

they were obviously trying to smear him the whole time, but that doesn't matter. they fail to realize that despite their lame attempts, when he talks the messege resonates. when it really counted he was on top of his game.

It's quite amusing how much Fox News is actually helping Pauls campaign. .

it all just comes down to the fact that he's obviously educated himself very well and understands the broader picture of many situations and how these situations relate to each other.

The other candidates are like mentally retarded children when put next to Ron Paul. I think deep down they all know they are being schooled and are amazed at Ron Paul's knowledge and ability to speak the truth. They must know that what they are saying is all a bunch of bullshit aimed at trying to get idiots to vote for them.

Here is what happens.
First, I don't think any of the other candidates are retards. Uneducated - yes. Retards - no. I also think, as proven by the post debate interviews, that they have mastered the art of the soundbyte. They make people laugh but give them zero substance. The stupid neocon warmongers that Frank Luntz hand picked for his "focus group" were all over the soundbyte stuff like Huckleberry's comment about them seeing the gates of Hell or whatever that was. But everytime they answered a question, I had to wonder - "but how the HELL are you going to solve it"?
Of course, they have no clue. They chatter endlessly about "change" but have no idea how or what to change. ONLY Ron Paul actually has answers but they aren't in those cute little soundbytes that the stupid warmongering neocons like. And I believe, deep in my heart, that the stupid neocon warmongers don't WANT answers. They are turtles, hiding their heads in the sand. Hopefully, there are enough actual Republicans left out there to override the stupid warmongering neocons.

they aren't amazed by it at all. it's much harder to formulate a cohesive lie than it is to speak the truth. the ONLY thing they care about is getting the presidency so they can fulfill whatever special interest agendas they have. they don't give a fuck about ron paul, or you or me, or this country. perhaps one or two have a semblance of nostalgia for the sort of "youthful" ideals ron paul has... but most of them see it as puerile utopian nonsense and not how the world works, and have grown "disillusioned" by the roles they've been playing and the money/power/social status they've been gaining.

honesty? in politics?? you've got to be kidding me!

totally. ron is a fluke. he shouldnt have made it past iowa. if it werent for the fact that the internet is a lightning fast source of uncontrolled information, we would probably at best just be longingly mentioning these kinds of political ideas in a passing conversation with friends and talking about how we wished there was a candidate out there for us. :p

The thing about burying your head in the sand...you can only do that for so long before someone comes along and gives you a good kick in the ass. I think that Ron Paul has a good leg for kicking.

I think this may be true except for Rudy. It seems to me he actually believes the bullshit he spews forth.

Everyone sounds very optimistic about Paul's impact on last night's debate, and that's great, and I absolutely LOVED it, but I can't shake the skepticism about what impact it might have really had in getting new supporters.

Any way to tell how many new people logged on to the forums last night? Or any other metric to see if he really resonated?

Clearly Fox is against him and trying to destroy him . . . I guess I'm so jaded that I think most viewers totally ate up their efforts.

Maybe we should do a newspaper attack ad about Fox, pointing out how disrespectful they've been to a sitting member of the House.
