Should Dr. Ron Paul become the United States Secretary of the Treasury under a Republican President?

Dr. Paul chose to represent the Republican Party and so it would be more logical for him to become an executive cabinet member if McCain/Palin wins the election. This is because their ideologies are more similar than the democrat party, who embrace more of a socialist system.

Instead of creating more polarity between Republicans, why not just make an agreement that will satisfy both supporters of Dr. Paul and McCain/Palin, which will better unite the Republican Party against the socialist Democrats.

If this comes into fruition, Dr. Paul would have direct substantial influence on the monetary system of US and can make a greater difference in helping the state of America.

John McCain would reinforce his 'maverick' association and the Republicans would easily defeat the democrats.

If the Republicans win this election and Dr. Paul is part of the executive administration, his views and solutions would garner more respect and attention.

No. The economy will still collapse since he'll have no power to do anything about the Fed, and then they will blame it all on Ron Paul. Besides, Ron Paul would never accept any position with scumbag warmongering McCain.

What do you mean "should"? Lots of things "should" happen. Ron doesn't really have any say in the matter unless McCain asks him. Not likely to happen.

Ron Paul as Treasury Secretary

I believe Ron Paul should push to take this position and have it announced by McCain as soon as possible. He should do in the interest of the nation and state clearly that his service in the position is for the people and not in deference to McCain.

He could leverage his position to eliminate the FED and force McCain to agree with this position before accepting.

Strange times require odd bedfellows. It would be daring and it just might mean a real difference in this race.

I'm thankful Ron Paul has true integrity and will never sell out to McCain for anything like some people here want him to do. I wouldn't vote for it if McCain promised Ron Paul a slot in his administration or even had made him VP. You could not vote for Ron Paul without voting for McCain, and that's totally abhorrent.

Didn't someone suggest this exact same thing with Obama? Neither are going to happen, for two main reasons. One, both Obama and McCain believe in economic intervention, not the free market. Why would they appoint someone who fundamentally disagrees with them, to Secretary of Treasury, when the Secretary is supposed to help implement the President's policies?

Secondly, Ron Paul wouldn't take the position as that is what it entails - implementing the policies of those who appointed him.

They wouldn't even let him attend the convention a few weeks ago, so I doubt it.

Do not be so pessimistic. If the economy will still collapse regardless if Dr. Ron Paul is US Secretary of Treasury, then what is the point in supporting him? That position is the highest finance position of the US, who has the ability to control the creation of money.

We should take steps in the right direction. There needs to be a gradual transition to Dr. Paul's free-market financial system because if there was a sudden shift it would drastically force global economic chaos since financial systems are very inter-connected.

And please leave name calling, such as "warmongering" out of this and let us develop real solutions.

Dr. Paul does not have to just sit and hope for John McCain to ask him. I am sure Dr. Paul is the type who takes the initiative to make things happen. Dr. Paul has the leverage because McCain wants to win this election to keep the socialist Democrats out of office. If the Republicans lose the Democrats would control both the executive and legislative branches of government. Since Democrats have more socialist initiatives they would obviously make the government bigger, spend more tax payers’ money, and raise taxes on Americans.

McCain is considered a 'Maverick", thus choosing Dr Paul to be on his team would show real reform and change. McCain's has historically supported deregulation just like Dr. Paul.

Dr. Paul wants what is best for Americans and tax payers. His actions have shown this profoundly. He puts his country first. Thus, he would be an excellent candidate as Secretary of Treasury.

I do not understand how Dr. Paul would sell out Americans by becoming Secretary of Treasury and making the financial system sound. I truly hope this Ron Paul movement is not just a cult.

As Ron paul said the other day, he will not support a candidate who makes jokes like BOMB BOMB BOMB...BOMB BOMB IRAN!

Forget it.

Ron Paul will NEVER support McCain........I repeat NEVER NEVER NEVER

A-fekkn-men

Get used used it

IT AIN'T GONNA HAPPEN!

But as a service to this country, if asked to help out in the mess through a cabinet post for either party . . .

well, he just might, wouldn't he ?

No. If he gives up his seat in congress for this position, they will just fire him. Then he would have no voice.

First of all, it is a bit naive to suggest that the neocon Republican President would ever ask Dr. Paul to hold any office in his administration.

However, if Dr. Paul were Secretary of Treasury, I see no reason why he could not move to get the illegal Federal Reserve abolished and probably a simple E.O. by McInSane could do so. Congress would by law of the Constitution be in charge of coining money or else they would be out on their collective Asses for failure to uphold the Constitution.

that republican president would sure need a money bomb, because the day he announced that his wall street support would bottom out.
