Ron Paul ToolBar

Just heard about this, it's being set up by one of the local meetup orgainzers around here.

The basic idea is they make money by having folks use this toolbar for searching then pass the cash on to grassroots projects.

I just installed it and its actually kinda nice. It's even got a media player with a preset for Ron Paul Radio and a nice RP graphic.

I think they just started this, and you can suggest other uses for the cash towards grassroots RP projects.
The top 10 referrers/moneymakers get to vote on the winning projects.

I am a bit skeptical abt it ..rit now I am using stumble-upon tool bar like many others of our fellow revolutionist are using, whenever I find a good article about Ron Paul I tag that with a general term like 'US Presidential 2008', 'Politics','Iowa Caucus' etc. and click 'I like it' so that other ppl looking for these subjects find Ron Paul even if they are not looking for him..but If we stick to your toolbar we can only exchange finds within ourselves and not with other folks WHO ARE NOT USING THIS TOOLBAR so we are kind of isolating ourselves ...dont you ppl think so..

other than that making money for Ron Paul part is very impressive and no arguments about that

There is a plug in for IE and FireFox, so I guess if FireFox runs on your mac it should work fine.

No clue what exact payouts are. I'm guessing they get a flat fee for every install (like the Firefox and Picasa Google downloads which pay $1 per download to the referrer) but don't know for sure what makes the most money. I'll check with Chris and see if he has any info on how we can maximize it's earnings.

Same concept as the blimp funding I believe, FEC should not be involved to the best of my knowledge

Re how the revenue is earned.
For Yahoo searches hitting the 'relevant ads', there is no bonus for just installing it, in the very near future (They are still in "Pre-Launch Phase") buying products from Amazon via the Toolbar will earn a percentage (expect that in a day or two).

I hate being a skeptic but has some computer savvy person looked at the code? We would be a ripe target for a scam with all the money we donate. I'm NOT saying this is and I really like the idea but we need to be careful as many of us use our computers to donate. Again, I'm not saying anything bad about this project. Period. Just asking for someone to really look at it carefully. I'l jump in, in a heart beat if I'm sure it's safe. Thank you.
