I seem to recall North Dakota went completely bananas for Ron Paul back in '08. He won a whole bunch of counties there! It seems like a cool place, but I've never been there.

Works for me-- like I said, I have family there. A ton, actually. The old farm families had 12 or 13 kids. And while that was in my grandparents' generation, that still means there are a lot of us in North Dakota.

they have a really late primary. And they are cheap. And self reliant. That is why Ron goes over so big there.

Per capita, my friend, per capita. North Dakota doesn't have the most donors per capita, but not the least either. You think those tables are expensive for this fundraiser? I was just in North Dakota yesterday. Rent in Dickerson is $2000/month for a 2-bedroom apartment. $1000/month for a 1-bedroom.

Yeah I am gonna try to be there. There are ND supporters of Ron Paul on this forum. I try to run the grassroots group for Bismarck ND but we got a late start. Unfortunately the proceeds go to the ND policy council, but I am sure they are paying Ron Paul to be there so he will still make some campaign money. It's too bad its like $1000 to meet him. No way I can swing that, gonna have to just get the dinner tickets probably.

Yep. That and, like most apparent "market failures": it's the government's fault. The city and county governments are making it hard to build. The party line is they don't want to "over-build" like the last oil boom. So they take it upon their wise and visionary selves to prevent the market from foolishly building "too much" such that rents might be less than $2000/month (more, in Williston). Bless their hearts. What would we do without our Leaders and Saviors the government men? The Zoning Boards across the nation really are our unsung heroes. Three cheers for obstructionism!
