Ron Paul to answer charges on CNN!!!!

Yes!!

Finally!!!! This is the best defense on ANY issue that RP has put up in the entire campaign.

He mentioned drug laws and how the judicial system has been mistreating blacks on this issue for 20 years, and how he is the only one who is standing up against these draconian laws. He also mentioned how anyone who knows him, including Wolf (who agreed), could not at all relate Ron Paul directly to a single word of what was written in those newsletters because they know it is "not who I am."

BRAVO!

I still believe that he needs to out the former aide that wrote this CRAP though!

Wow! I think he did a great job with that interview... I happen to like that he pointed the drug law thing out...I think he said "14% of drug law violators are black yet 67% of those who are imprisoned for it are black"...thats the real racist thing imo.

Damn, give the speech writer a pay raise now!

Ron Paul pressed it that blacks are a minority in drug users but they are unfairly prosecuted. And he is right.

He is right, but he focused on an area that will be spun and used against him like nobody's business.

Talking about eliminating drug laws is not going to win over mom and pop citizen, it will just be spun to say Paul implied all black people are on drugs.

Damn, fire the speech writer now!

Very true, that was a poor way of wording things. I was also disappointed that he said he has absolutely no idea who wrote the stuff. They already said they fired the people involved in all this right? So shouldn't he know who it was if the person got fired? Overall it was an ok response, but the man has to let the public know who the person was that wrote this crap, or at least call that person up and demand that they defend him and out themselves. This is the closest the freedom movement has come to mainstream. It would be a shame if it all fell apart just because Ron doesn't want to out a friend of his.

Holy crap! I've never seen him so angry!

For all the people that are saying that Ron Paul needs to "fire his script writer" needs to know that Ron Paul has been saying exactly what he said tonight all along. He has no script writer. That's his words, from his heart, and what he believes. Also, to the folks who said that he needs to "out" the writer of these letters, he clearly stated that he has honestly has no clue who wrote them.

Woot! Ron Paul does it again! I just saw the interview and feel it came off as truthful and sincere. Then he took the opportunity to get his message out there.

I thought he did a great job too....if you don't think his saying that the war on drugs is racist and he plans to change it will win over black voters you are out of touch. The judicial system is unimaginably racist...thats the entire reason for the 'no snitchin' policy.

The part that is going to sting is right before he came on, Wolf pointed out how some of the articles were written like Paul wrote them, refering to his home town and personal comments, yet he didn't ask that to Paul (if Paul heard the setup).

He did a good job. He stated clearly that no one else supports eliminating the war on drugs and that it affects minorities unfairly.

But you know what guys, many people do not support the war on drugs. Times are actually changing. I will give you two examples.

One of my friends I went to school with is now a police officer. I asked him about the war on drugs and he believes it is a waste of resources and the people who get arrested end up serving terms longer than convicted murderers.

Another person I know who is a customer at my job who is also a police officer also said that he thinks the war on drugs is utterly pointless at this point.

This issue could be huge in the future and from my personal experience I do not believe there is anywhere near the support for the war on drugs that there was in the past.

It would be a shame if it all fell apart just because Ron doesn't want to out a friend of his.

They're gonna have to take a page from the Bush administration on how to throw someone under the boat or else outing the person could hurt and draw further attention.

THATS what I'm talking about.
Thats what I want to see at the debate tonight.
I think they just pissed him off!!
Carry that over into tonight Dr. Paul!!!!

You don't know who they fired and you don't know who wrote it. Looks like we are back to assuming Ron Paul is lying about all this. For all we know, Paul fired whoever was editing the newsletter, and that person may not have written anything.

"Outing" the person who wrote the items will be seen as a lame attempt to shift attention away from himself for political expediency. Encoruaging the person to out themselves would be no different. He took moral responsibility (which means the buck stops with him) for this years ago...now he would hang an aide out to dry to further his political career?

NOT RON PAUL!

the explanation of the newsletters was hazy on the details but overall i think he conveyed convincingly that he was not a racist.

You need to find another candidate....no way in hell Dr. Paul would call someone who said racist remarks like that and held those beliefs a friend. Why don't you learn your candidate before making stupid remarks like that. I don't really get too irritated when TNR does it, but seriously his own supporter?!?

He had no contact with those newsletters and doesn't know the person. He said that in the interview...."I honestly don't know who wrote those remarks" No one who actually knows and believes in Dr. Pauls message could say such drivel.
