Pete Harring, the founder of the Maine Tea Party and Androscoggin County co-coordinator for the Ron Paul campaign (alongside me), was unseated without explanation and in violation of party bylaws at an illegal meeting last night. To add insult to injury, Harring was a National Delegate who was booted by the RNC and replaced as part of the challenge fiasco.

This just in on Facebook from Pete:
I was informed this morning by Robert Sevigny, that the Executive Committee voted to remove me as Chair. No further explanation was provided.
"Pete,
As Secretary of the Auburn City Republican Committee, I have been tasked to inform you that after 45 minutes of intense discussions, the Executive Committee voted to remove you as Chairman, effective immediately. This action was taken lightly."
I can find no authorization in the City Bylaws for this to be able to happen. Amazing how these things happen when I am not around, back in July Georgia Chomas held an illegal Special Caucus while I was away and last night I had to work late, gave more than a 12 hr notice that I would not be able to attend and they pull this CRAP! This surely will help promote unity ! What a JOKE !!!!!!!!
I sent this email to the Executive Committee, lets see what they have to say To the Auburn City Executive Committee,
I am respectfully requesting a copy of last nights meeting minutes (09/10/12) for both the regular meeting and the Executive Committee meeting. I wish to see the roll call for both. In looking over the Auburn City bylaws I see no bylaws pertaining to your removal of me as Chair. Please point out where in the bylaws you had the authority to do that.
NOTE: This is my second request for the minutes and role call.
Thank you in advance for your prompt attention to this matter.

SUN JOURNAL [newspaper]: Critics say local GOP rift another sign of party disunity in Maine
A Maine tea party leader who garnered national attention has been removed from his position as the chairman of a local Republican Party committee, according to social media.
Posts on a Facebook page set up in support of Pete Harring — an iconic leader of Maine's tea party movement and a prominent figure in the protests that Maine GOP delegates staged during the party's national convention — state he was removed from his chairmanship of the city of Auburn's Republican Party Committee.
Known as "Pete the Carpenter" to his supporters, Harring was featured in news outlets around the country with a clothespin on his nose as he protested an RNC decision to remove half of Maine's convention delegates.
...
One local Republican Party member, Chris Dixon of Lewiston, said he thinks the removal of Harring was not justified. At a minimum, he said, Harring should have been present for the vote taken locally.
Like Dodge, Dixon said he believes Harring is being retaliated against for comments he made during the Republican National Convention in Tampa.
He said several prominent local Republicans were calling for Harring's resignation on various social media outlets following the comments.
Dixon said one person at the meeting where Harring was ousted described it as a "verbal lynch mob."
