Ron Paul supporters take control of Clark County GOP!

This was just the county convention. 1300 delegates are being sent to the State Convention in Reno, NV in May. Of those 1300 State delegates, the majority are Ron Paul supporters. At that State convention, the 28 delegates Nevada will send to the National Convention will be elected.

Nevada delegates are bound to vote for the winner of the straw poll (Romney) on the 1st round. After that, they become unbound and can vote for whomever they wish.

The Clark County Executive board has 20 seats (Chairman acts as tiebreaker). Today at the convention 14 of those 20 seats were up for election. All 14 seats went to Ron Paul supporters.

Except that it was proportionate so some will vote for Ron on the first round as well, the delegates he won.

So this pretty much means we swept Nevada and will completely carry it into the convention?

If there is a majority, they can try to change the rules and unbind the delegates again, and maybe they shut it down again.

this time if they start to walk out, call a quorum count. Last time there would have been enough votes if they did it right away, to keep going, but it took people a while to figure out what was happening.

It is sounding good, but all the county delegates have to go to state and we have to dominate THAT for that to happen. In NV that sounds pretty good, in some other places, we can hear good things, and just not be hearing the bad ones, and we won't know until after the state convention.

There's no reason we can't be taking over County GOP leadership positions in other states.

In most states, all we have to do is file as candidates for Precinct Committeeman. That alone will give you a great chance at becoming a voting member within your County GOP. If we have enough Ron Paul supporters becoming voting members, we can take over the County GOP.

Here are some states (not all) where all you need to do is file one form to be a candidate for Precinct Committeeman:

Arizona
Idaho
Illinois
Indiana
Michigan
Montana
Texas
Washington
Wyoming

Ron is in Illinois RIGHT NOW, I sure hope the campaign is telling them this!!

This is precisely why I emphasized the bound nature of Nevada delegates, and having to vote for the straw poll winners.

Ya, I thought it was understood Nevada is not a winner take all state. I mention Romney's name only to remind people that even if all delegates are RP supporters they are bound to vote based on straw poll results, which Romney overwhelming won.

Today was a great day for us here in Clark county! I talked to many RP supporters just like myself, we still have a chip on our shoulder from what went down in 2008. Every single RP supporter I talked to is planning on going to the state convention. We have a plan for the state convention and I look forward to dominating the national delegate vote. This time... the lights will stay on!

Great job today Rob! +rep... in fact, if everyone on this board knew how dedicated you have been this election cycle your rep would be off the chart.

Is this rule concerning delegates having to vote for the straw poll winner a rule that can be changed if their is a majority of Paul delegates. Make a motion and vote on the rule change?

I believe that is the case :D

People should be paying more attention to this. If people would have listened when these seats were open back in 2010(?), we would have been much stronger in Wyoming.

Please look at polls and become a delegates for the person you think will win the state. We need as many stealth delegates going into FL that will vote for Paul on the 2nd or 3rd vote.

It is going to be hard for the MSM to discount Ron Paul winning these delegates.

Any video from the convention?

Remember that one Ron Paul supporter at the main convention last time holding up a sign and screaming. That was an epic picture.

Something not reported on here is that the county platform was not adopted as there were so many objectors to several of the planks that the convention ran hours longer than expected, to where a quorum could not be met and the convention was ended. I don't know what the procedure is for ratifcation of the platform in this situation. Does it go to the next county E-board meeting to decide? If anyone can shed some light on this, it would be appreciated. Plank #3 needs to pass.

Ron won the entire state of Nevada this way until the state GOP fled turning off the lights to destroy quorum. There were a couple tiny local paper stories but nothing at all in major media.

We'll see if they even mention it.

Now if our guys show up at national.....

Just think about the epic resolutions you can pass now.

I would be careful, though. If we act like bullies when we 'can' we won't have much sympathy or many friends when we need them, and I am pretty certain there will be times when we will, if only at the end when Ron is appealing to unbound delegates.
