this actually sounds like BAD news if you read what it says, but I assume they are reporting without regard to how the vote goes at the state convention, which, if dominated by us, we expect to go differently than they suggest. They do say we won at least four of the six districts although they seem to think the fifth was split between Romney and the other non Paul slate, whereas I understand we think it was half US.

In any event with four of six districts we should be able to control who the delegates are, so they should all be our people even if a minority of them are required to vote first ballot for someone else. Or do I have that wrong, Louisianians?

I'll merge it with mine, but could you please answer my question in the op on the other thread?

17 of 46 from Congressional district conventions sounds understandable as there are 6 congressional districts.

But I'm sure we'll get much more than 17 from the work Louisiana did today

17 is not only an odd number, but a prime number as well. How is it calculated from the 6 districts?

I think the point is that those districts also elect the people who go to state and elect the rest of the delegates, so by dominating the one we will dominate the other.

Will we have at least 23 RP Supporters from Louisiana in Tampa to count the State as one of the five needed to nominate Ron for President?

I think that is the case from what I have been hearing, because we will control the vote at the state convention which votes on the delegates and less than a majority are otherwise committed by primary or by position.

We're guaranteed that number, plus we'll be selecting the delegates to the RNC minus the 3 superdelegates and 5 executively selected delegates.
What is the deal with all these stupid 3 "superdelegates" in every state? Are they absolutely untouchable? Can't the chairman and committeepeople be deposed, kicked out somehow? Would be useful to know for the state conventions coming up wherein we'll have majorities.

You must spread some Reputation around before giving it to hueylong again.

I can't help it, I just want to give you rep every time I see you tonight!

sometimes we can and have as with Spiker in Iowa, and the National Committeewoman in Minn (but we have to get her reelected this time).

Just speculation, but my meager understanding of parliamentary procedure is that if you have 2/3rds or more of the official delegates at a State Convention you can pretty much re-write the rules to your favor. I don't know how many States will find themselves with 2/3rds of their State delegates being Ron Paul supporters but if you are in such a situation you should be able to use parliamentary rules to vote your own leadership and then vote your own rules.

Now what the National Republican Party would say about that is another question, but 2/3rds seems to be the magic number for domination.
