Hi, I'll introduce myself. I'm a Libertarian on the anarcho-capitalist end of the scale. I spent almost every dime I had left trying to kill two birds with one stone. The first bird was supporting Ron Paul. I was slightly less than successful as the second bird left me a little limited with regard to communication and I didn't arrive in time to really help out with the caucus. That second bird was trying to come here to make a life for myself where there's an actual job market, as I've been unemployed since August.

Now, I'm here in Vegas, I have exactly $22 to my name. I would appreciate any assistance anyone here could give, whether useful advice or space on a couch until I can pick up one of the delicious tech jobs I've already found advertised.

God damn, where's the balls?

Jesus, if you come to Australia, grow a couple.

Otherwise, we have a Marsupial mating program here.

We have many successful courtships...

I have balls. I just don't have anywhere to stay while trying to put my computer experience to good use. Nobody hires you if you haven't had a shower in a month and your clothes are filthy.

Sorry man, I think your gonna have a hard time finding someone to let you in their home if you havent showered in a month.

I am *currently* showered and reasonably hygienic. However, assuming I can even secure employment without being able to write an actual address down, as time passes and I grow more ripe, that alone would become quite correct grounds to terminate my employment. If it takes a week of searching to secure gainful employment, that'll be a week's accrued funk. If it were to take longer, it could easily get eye-watering.

Hence someplace to shower and hopefully sleep out of the cold while I take care of getting and keeping the job.

Go to one of the homeless shelters there - there are quite a few at the churches in Vegas. They have people who can get you connnected to the network that you need. My wild and crazy oldest daughter had the not so bright idea of hitchhiking to Vegas when she was a college freshman - with the intent on getting a job at one of the casinoes. When that deal bombed big time, she went to the homeless shelter and they gave her a bus ticket to get back home to Kentucky on - they were the Angels that I prayed to watch over her while she was pulling that crazy stunt! She could have been killed or worse! Vegas is no place to be stranded!

Keep your head up and stay positive. Those open eyes will see a door of opportunity.

P.S. thanks for starting a thread that makes it so easy to tell which douches to put on my 'ignore' list.

Someone in your area will help...

Ironically, just as I was finishing composing this, a literal door opened up. It's been one rollercoaster of a day, but perhaps I should learn to expect that from Vegas :D A nice woman with an unusual mode of transportation has opened her house to me. So I thank you to those who have had kind words at least.

For those who had unkind words, I'll just say that I do not ask for help lightly. And it does give me a mighty dose of self-loathing and helplessness to need to ask. But it doesn't help that situation, nor is it constructive, to be rude to someone in need. And not everyone in need got there by being lazy or stupid. As every Ron Paul supporter should know, the "leadership" has been running this country and planet into an economic tailspin of dependency and poverty. So lighten up when somebody asks for help in the spirit of the old mutual-aid societies to overcome these obstacles.

Well, not my intent. I was in genuine desperation. But happy to have helped you.

This made me laugh.

I do recommend looking for a shelter or a church, or perhaps one of the nevada supporters would be so kind as to put you up. I'd help out, but I just literally gave my last dollar to Ron Paul.

I must say though, your lack of planning ahead is disheartening. As an anarcho-capitalist, self-reliance would seem to be the strategy.

All the same, best of luck to you.

Oh, and if you get really desperate there ARE ways you can make money with $22 in vegas... but I wouldn't recommend it.
