Ron Paul Smeared On Daily Show!

Here is a letter I wrote to Frum immediately after the DS aired the other night:

Hello, sir.

I recently saw an interview with you on the Daily Show. While I feel Mr. Stewart did well in pointing out some contradictions that you appeared to make, there was the issue of Ron Paul. When Jon asked why "the Republicans", as a party, don't like Congressman Paul, you responded, vaguely, that you wouldn't like him upon deeper understanding (I didn't catch your exact words).

Please, can you elaborate? I am not asking for a referenced print-quality article, or similar, but you didn't really give a justification for disliking Paul, you just repeated that you dislike him.

I live in a state that has yet to have their primary election, and I am considering voting for Paul. I have attended a rally, I have studied his speeches and stances on the issue, and I know his history. I still think that he is a reasonable, honest, worthy candidate. If there is something beyond these things that could prevent me from voting for him, please enlighten me, as I would hate to waste my vote on someone that I couldn't truly support if I knew what those at the Republican Party Headquarters seem to.

Thank you for your time, and I hope to receive some response before my primary.

His lengthy, well thought out response, in its entirety:

Well you might start here.

David Frum.

And my response back:
David,
Thank you for your reply, though I was already familiar with this article, and have taken it into consideration.

It seems that the best reply that the racist, homophobic establishment of the GOP can do is paint Paul as a homophobic racist. Certainly their are staffers at TRN that have also worked with David Duke, and had trouble in the early nineties distinguishing between stereotyping and racism and culture and race.

While the man, Ron Paul, may hold some resentment towards other races, he has so tempered it over the years, that none of his policy suggestions, public speeches, or current newsletters (weekly at http://www.house.gov/paul/) reflect these views, and at the first hint of those views prevailing, you can rest assured that I will drop my support.

Thank you again,

I was surprised that he replied at all, but I knew he had nothing beyond the National Review to smear Paul with. I also like that he said I should "start" there - this article is the end of the line for this info, short of going to Wisc. historical records and rereading everything IN context, rather than having the five most racist lines out of hundreds of thousands quoted with no context.
