Please SHARE and FLOOD the Ron Paul 2012 Campaign with emails and calls requesting that Ron Paul challenge Newt Gingrich to a one on one Lincoln-Douglas Debate. Here are the reasons this challenge should happen NOW:

• Herman Cain accepted Newt’s challenge to a Lincoln-Douglas debate, which turned into a “casual exchange” that gained NATIONAL MEDIA ATTENTION.

• Mitt Romney just declined a Lincoln-Douglas debate against Gingrich on Dec 2, which is gaining NATIONAL MEDIA ATTENTION.

• Gingrich arrogantly challenged Obama to a Lincoln-Douglas debate, which gained NATIONAL MEDIA ATTENTION.

• John Huntsman just accepted Newt’s challenge on Dec 2, which has gained NATIONAL MEDIA ATTENTION for Huntsman (who consistently polls lower than Paul).

• Newt Gingrich would look FOOLISH if he declines Dr. Paul’s challenge, given his arrogance on making challenges and the fact that he challenged Huntsman (who consistently polls lower than Paul). Therefore, a challenge from Dr. Paul would be win-win even if Gingrich declines.

• Ron Paul has gained NATIONAL MEDIA ATTENTION on Dec 3 for declining a debate moderated by Donald Trump.

• Dr. Paul held his own on the Patriot Act when debating Gingrich during the Nov 22 CNN debate. This one-on-one exchange with Gingrich gained NATIONAL MEDIA ATTENTION in the days after the CNN debate.

• Cain has withdrawn from the race on Dec 3, making it even MORE crucial for Dr. Paul to gain NATIONAL MEDIA ATTENTION on his Plan to Restore America in effort to influence the vacuum left by Cain’s departure.

• Dr. Paul’s Nov 30 video showing Gingrich’s “Serial Hypocrisy” gained NATIONAL MEDIA ATTENTION and was viewed over 500,000 times within two days. This video launched Dr. Paul onto the Offensive, which must be supported by a Lincoln-Douglas Challenge to maintain the Offensive and gain NATIONAL MEDIA ATTENTION.

• Dr. Paul needs NATIONAL MEDIA ATTENTION, as the BlackOut and Marginalization Continues!!!!

• Dr. Paul doesn’t have skeletons or baggage like Gingrich, which eliminates Dr. Paul having to worry about “throwing stones at glass houses” or being backed into a corner during a one-on-one debate.

• Dr. Paul has a consistent voting record, which eliminates Dr. Paul having to worry about “throwing stones at glass houses” or being backed into a corner during a one on one debate.

• It is crucial for Dr. Paul to gain NATIONAL MEDIA ATTENTION right now as the dynamics of the GOP continue to change and with the Iowa Caucus and New Hampshire Primary quickly approaching!!

Please call and email the Ron Paul 2012 Campaign at 703-563-6620, option 5 to strongly request this TIME SENSITIVE challenge be issued from the Paul Campaign to the Gingrich Campaign.

I like the idea. It may be a little early to "put up or shut up", but I can't see us losing anything with it.

I don't like the idea.

I'm frankly annoyed by Gingrich's obsession with these Lincoln-Douglass debates. I think he likes to hear himself talk is what it amounts to.

Nobody cared about the Gingrich-Cain "debate". I don't think it's worth Paul's time to indulge Newt's historical mental masturbation about Lincoln.

....I think he likes to hear himself talk is what it amounts to.

That is his forte, so he is rightly attempting to capitalize upon it. If Ron was only dealing with Newt, I think his level of preparation would be significantly increased. Also, he is the only one running that has a history with Newt. This would be a very deep well to tap, IMHO.

Yeah I agree. Newt needs to be exposed for his anti-conservative past. A debate with Ron isn't going to do that. Ron seems uncomfortable on the attack.

Gingrich has peaked. The less time he gets bloviating the better. His skeletons have caught up once again and they are dragging him down. Don't give him a lifeline by debating him. Makes him seem relevant when, in fact, he isn't.

Probably not in the best of interests for the campaign. When Gingrich is no longer relevant there would be nothing to gain.

Newt is being Covered by all of the MSM. Right now (prior to Iowa and NH), the Best way to get the same MSM Coverage for Dr. Paul, is to have him Toe-to-Toe with the MSM Darling, Newt Gingrich. I agree the debate is worthless. But Dr. Paul needs to stand wherever the spotlight is shining.........

The numbers are showing that Newt will be relevant in Iowa and New Hampshire. The Campaign can't sit on their hands. He has to adjust his Campaign and be resourceful to fight the MSM Marginalization and attempt to swing Cain supporters.

Besides a brief mention in national headlines there is no lasting affect. No. It is a good idea on the surface but it wouldn't be televised and therefore not worth the effort.

this isn;t about Newt. This is about getting Paul in the MSM Spotlight, while trying to swing Cain supporters before Iowa and New Hampshire. The Paul Campaign must be resourceful while adjusting it's strategy to the ever-changing GOP front......

The numbers showed a lot of other candidates being relevant at one time. Even if Newt was relevant at the time of the debate it still wouldn't have an effect, the Cain/Gingrich love fest didn't have any... and they both seem to have an appeal to the same crowd.

Well, *I* think that it's a good idea, especially so if Newt were to refuse it. Mr. Blowhard would have some explaining to do...After all he's willing to debate Huntsman, who is pulling a whopping 2% in Iowa, I believe. Were Mr. Blowhard to accept, Ron could run rings around him in the TRUTH department as well as the CONSISTENT RECORD department, as someone stated.

Wasn't it immediately after that debate the The Grinch started skyrocketing in the polls?

I think it WOULD have an effect. The Cain/Gingrich lovefest gave Gingrich a jolt. And God knows, RON PAUL supporters would be viewing, as well as all the "frontrunner" supporters.
