I spent the morning consolidating data in OpenOffice Calc and I finally got it to export the filtered data list. I had to filter the duplicates by Name, Donation Size, and Date, because some people came up on more than one search phrase, and there are over 4500 individual donations.

The bad news is that the filtered list would only export in XHTML format. I posted the file at http://oceanicevolution.com/Photos/contributorDataFile.xhtml

The .XLS file (unsorted, duplicates are still in the file) is at http://oceanicevolution.com/Photos/contributorDataFile.xls

I used somewhere around 20 search phrases, to include Army, Navy, Air Force, Marines, Marine Corps, Coast Guard, USN, DoD, Soldier, USAF, USMC, USN, National Guard, etc. I also went through and deleted all of the obvious false positives (I.E. "Salvation Army" or "Army Civilian.") I kept military spouses in, because the FEC considers a married couple a single legal entity.

I computed the data for donations for all of the candidates.
Here are the numbers I got, filtering out the duplicates using manual labor (meh):

Ron Paul: $286764 1349 Donations
McCain : $ 79597 413 Donations
Romney: $ 29250 140 Donations
Huckabee: $ 24562 94 Donations

Obama: $ 81037 466 Donations
Clinton: $ 49523 181 Donations

TOTAL OF ALL OTHERS: $263969 1294 Donations

The number of total donors is less than the total number of donations, as some people donated more than once.

I was very exacting when computing this, and I believe this result to be accurate.

Does anyone have access to do press releases? If the campaign doesn't do one, we should put one out there.

no kidding?

Geeze, I have been telling this to every person I have talked to about RP for the last six months. Is that bad? lol. I thought everyone knew this. I thought this was "established" silly me. teeeehheee!

It's obvious if you spend the time looking around and listening to our veterans and our soldiers and the people living through this hell. Of all people, they know that their money should only go to something that they really believe in, and most of them want to come home and begin to have a life for themselves, rather than a life for our government.

I didn't need to see the numbers, I just knew it, but I LOVE the number people, they sure come in handy! LOL
Great Job Jeff!! Get this published!
wahoooo!!!

If you want the excel file, pm me and I'll email it to you.

Ron Paul receives the most military donations among Republicans AGAIN in Q3

It appears our military backs Ron Paul in the most important issue facing the United States: Terrorism and our foreign policy. For the second time in a row, Ron Paul receives more donations among Republicans. Data for Democrats is not yet available, but Ron Paul crushed Democrats in this statistic last quarter as well.

Ron Paul led in military contributions last quarter as well:

Ron Paul leads ALL ‘08 candidates with over one-fourth of military contributions for Q2

Earlier, we reported military contributions among Republican presidential candidates place Ron Paul on top at 49.5%, with nearly as much as all Republicans combined.
A more complete compilation of statistics by Phreadom shows that presidential candidate Ron Paul leads all 2008 presidential candidates in military contributions from the US Army, Navy, Air Force, Marine Corps and war veterans. Presidential candidate Ron Paul leads with an impressive one-fourth* of all contributions this second quarter according to newly released data from the FEC.
Ron Paul currently has more cash-on-hand than John McCain this quarter, and this new information is indicative of Ron Paul’s success. It appears that our soldiers and war veterans have an affinity to, or inclination for Ron Paul’s non-intervention principle - defending our homeland and pursuing terrorists, but no nation-building.
Military contributions for Q2
Ron Paul 26.23%
Barack Obama 24.02%
John McCain 18.31%
Hillary Clinton 11.08%
Bill Richardson 5.59%
Mitt Romney 4.05%
John Edwards 2.63%
Rudy Giuliani 2.44%
Mike Huckabee 1.84%
Tom Tancredo 1.63%
Duncan Hunter 1.05%
Joe Biden 0.84%
Mike Gravel 0.16%
Sam Brownback 0.07%
Dennis Kucinich 0.05%
Tommy Thompson 0%
Chris Dodd 0%
Jim Gilmore 0%
John Cox 0%

*Edit: Correction for Obama’s totals changes the order and brings him to second place in military contributions, passing McCain. Our apologies to Sen. Barack Obama. (7/19/07)

Note: This is the total for all contributions, not just Q4.
That is how I read it as well. Thanks Jeff!

the lewrockwell link says
"Thanks to Jeff Schulman for discovering that Ron Paul received more military donations in the 4th quarter than all his opponents combined."
but has the grand totals listed.
someone ought to inform them of the disparity.
