Ron Paul Plays Chess With The Neocons

I'm a huge chess geek, so I really enjoyed the article. I think the analogy is a little off though, I think the game is much more unorthodox than the Guioco Piano. Ron might be playing the Orangutuan, letting the grassroots organize on the spacious queenside for development, creating thousands of opportunities if the future. Or if Ron was playing black, he'd be playing Alekhine's defense, immediately threatening the kings pawn by bringing the knight out. The knight would be the idea of peace, being attacked and chased around by pawns, but proving strong and effective throughout the whole game.

Ah, chess is a wonderful game...

I think he's more of a Sicilian with black, but it's not about the opening, it's the end game... I do know that He's got the long diagonals, can still Castle to either side and Rudy's Rook is exposed!

We should play sometime... 1868 USCF rating here :)

I'd love to play a game or three, do you play online? I'm not USCF rated anymore, but I probably play in the 1200-1400 range. But that doesn't mean I'm not competitive with the big boys! Send me a PM or something.

I play also, I used to be USCF 2034, but I haven't played in years. I'll be following this thread. :)

Dr. Paul is playing a Trompovsky, because the neo-cons are confused, and that opening causes such a reaction... 1.d4 Nf6 2.Bg5!?
