Texas Republicans Want Ron Paul

A recent poll of Texas Republicans shows that a generic “Tea Party” candidate wipes the floor with incumbent crook, John Cornyn, for his US Senate seat. And their #1 choice to beat Cornyn is Ron Paul, who is favored 44% to 34%. (Thanks to Michael Berry.)

Texas GOP Poll: "Tea Party" Challenger Beats Cornyn 46% to 33%

A generic “Tea Party” candidate beats Sen. John Cornyn III (R.-Texas) a Oct. 26 Human Events/Gravis poll of Republican voters in Texas 46 percent to 33 percent for the GOP’s number two senator. [sic entire sentence - where the hell'd this guy learn to write?? - OB]

The poll clearly shows Cornyn is trouble, especially when you see that in the poll Sen. R. Edward Cruz (R.-Texas) has a job approval rating of 73 percent among Republicans and Cornyn 46 percent, said the pollster Doug Kaplan, who founded Gravis Marketing in 2010 and whose polls were included in the Real Clear Politics basket of polls during the 2012 campaign.

The Republican primary is March 4. The day for candidates to file for the primary is Nov. 9 with a Dec. 9 filing deadline.

In head-to-head questions the only named individual who beat Cornyn was former Republican congressman Ron D. [sic] Paul, who beat Cornyn 44 percent to 34 percent, but that could be a function of name recognition, Kaplan said.

“From the results of this poll, a lesser-known candidate could close the gap by embracing the Tea Party label,” he said.

That would be something... of course the Marxists & Socialist media-party clowns would have a field day of labeling Ron "The New Bush Family" in politics... then the schizoids would push their Hillary-Bill ticket... lol.

I know he's retired and not going to run.

But could Ron or somebody like him still win a general election in TX? Aren't the cities going blue? Did Cruz poison the well with the shutdown?

If he ran and won, Texas would have by far the best representation in the Senate.

A state delegation including Ron Paul and anyone, Lindsey Graham, Chuck Schumer, it doesn't matter, would be by far the best in the Senate.

I disagree, Rand Paul is better than Ron as a Senator, but the combo of Ron and Cruz would edge out Rand and McConnell.

Yeah, against Cornyn. But after Cruz becomes President in 2024, a Paul (or maybe Gohmert) can take that seat too.

I'd rather a Paul, but Gohmert would be great as well. The guy really is improving substantially on the issues.

It's too bad that Debra Medina prefers state politics to the Federal level. Not sure we have another relative unknown like Cruz was that has enough bonefides to be a serious state-wide election candidate.

Ron Paul should make history and run for Senate.

Not sure if a father/son been in senate before at same time. In any case, it would be very cool if he is inclined to run.

Henry Dodge (D-WI) served in the Senate with his son Augustus (D-IA) from 1848 till 1855. His half-brother, Lewis Linn, was also a Senator representing Missouri.

Ok, so it hasn't been done in last 100 years :)

It would be historic still. And back then they didn't have 24X7 media, just the news of him running for Senate would start unprecedented Paul mania this time around.
