Ron Paul on NPR today 6/21/07 (11 stations in Iowa will Broadcast)

Damn it!!! I just got in, and didn't hear any of it. Anyone gonna have this for upload or a link to where I can listen for a replay?

As long as he was not on private land and had the necessary licenses (isn't that just disgusting?), I don't see how they could legitimately arrest him. We certainly would want to do this whole thing legally, or it would likely backfire on us and lend credibility to the "fringe" claim.

He attempted to enter.

Man... even one hour is not enough to explain anything in detail! 'Fascist medical care' was too bad a comment. - Paul's aggressiveness is good but he should not mention these terms in any case since he never has enough time to explain his background and gets cornered.

Yeah, I can just see that one potentially backfiring on us. He's right of course, but it's going to be misconstrued.

It sounds wonderful, but I seem to recall that Alan Keyes was arrested for something similiar. The press did not treat him kindly when that happened.

Ron Paul is no Alan Keyes. RP will certainly respect private property and their right to freedom of association DESPITE the 501(c)3 code they're violating, but a thousand RP supporters outside -- with or without Paul -- will send only a positive message as long as we are respectful.

Well, we wouldn't be attempting to enter, so hopefully we would be ok. I still think the best thing is for him to get on WHO, for example, and be interviewed on that day, or the day after. His message would probably get to FAR more people than those who attended the forum.

The Dem callers

Thought it was interesting 2 democratic supporters called in. Democrats wouldn't show up in a poll of republicans. Makes one wonder what Dr. Paul's real numbers are.

The democrat callers were my favorite part of the interview. to echo earlier sentiments, RP has to clean up his talk on:
1. Leaving Iraq and the consequences
2. Global Warming - he bombed on that one
3. State's rights and their compromise appeal to the left

Fascism is an authoritarian political ideology (generally tied to a mass movement) that considers individual and other societal interests subordinate to the needs of the state.

Ron Paul is saying that the Government is controlling health care and is being strong armed by special interests. It isn't neccesarily socialist health care, but it is Government controlled.

RESPECTFUL, is the key word. Right now Failor is looking really bad. If we act like gentlemen and ladies, he will look like a big, fat liar!! If we do not, the whole thing will backfire on us.

All in all, this was a very, very good interview.

WRT Global Warming. He knows what needs to be said, but narrowing down such a complex and politically hot issue to short bites is extremely difficult.

I think he did great on the Dept of Ed stuff, especially for the overly democratic audicence of that show. I know some teachers and they cannot stand the no child left behind crap that basically imposes a federal cirriculum.

On the medical/fascism stuff - I thought that went alright. Yes, it was shocking to the host, but he did a decent job of tying the federal gov't to the large corporations. That will resonant with that audience, and hopefully get them to look at the problem from a different angle than the crap they're being spoon fed by the DNC.

I was pleased that he got to move off of the standard topics the MSM asks - at least for a while. His message will get stronger the more he gets to do this. It is important to hone these messages now.

Where's the venue? Let's just stage a huge rally across the street?

anybody have the address of the forum event?

Hy-Vee Hall (730 3rd St.) is part of the Iowa Events Center and is located in downtown Des Moines. This is public property. There's a lot of public parking lots adjacent to the center.

"Legitimately" is rarely a factor. Protesters are arrested by the hundreds all the time for stepping outside of the "Free Speech Zones" and charges are never even filed. The truth is that the media would play clip after clip of him in a police car.

I don't know if you're old enough to remember "The Battle In Seattle" but the WTO protesters were portrayed as violent anarchists, but that's pretty far from what actually happened. That's what I thought until I discovered YouTube.

If you go back to the sixties, the government actually went as far as to put people into the resistance movement with the intent of stirring up violence which gave the police grounds to use force. http://www.law.umkc.edu/faculty/projects/ftrials/Chicago7/chicago7.html - tells the story of 7 people who were charged with conspiring to incite a riot at the 1968 Democratic National Convention.

Even in the Keyes incident, he didn't go to jail. They dropped him off at a phone booth a few blocks away.

I'm just really worried that all our enthusiasm might be turned against us in a flash by the professionals that don't hesitate to use force.

It's great to hear from Democratic voters that plan to vote for Ron Paul. Other callers had great questions as well. As more liberty believing Americans hear Ron Paul's message support will only continue to grow.
