Ron Paul on CNN w/ John King - 6pm ET (12/20/11) - Official Thread

You would think he has a canned response by now.

Perhaps Doug Wead can coach him. There is no reason he shouldn't have a slam dunk answer by now. I mean something like "I abhore racism in all its forms. Those newsletters were not written by me and the paper "insert name here" did an investigation and found out that I am truthful. Infact, I was practicing medicine at the time and was out of politics. In addition, the president of the NAACP in Texas came to my defense on the matter back in 19**" etc... real simple, real concise.

If the Man says he did not write the letters let it be.

We supporters are obviously in a hurry to get past this but the MSM will not leave this dead horse alone until it's been beaten to a pulp. Please Ron, have a decent answer ready next time!

I'm not a fan of that answer. I hope he gets coached on this.

I'd agree with that, because he didn't answer the question, but his response might have been the best way to handle it. As far as he's concerned this 20 year old issue, which he's answered for many times now, needs to get played out in the media, and die. Stonewalling and refusing to put out any additional soundbites nips it in the bud. Of course since they keep bringing up the 3rd party question, and have for months, they'll probably keep hounding him about this. Winning Iowa, after going through this rehashed newsletters nonsense, should put it down.

Ron Paul should mention that he is the only Republican candidate that is actually drawing people of color towards the GOP. I've been to rallies and seen people of every color.

I think it is actually better to discuss this newsletter thing now. Imagine if they ignored it, and Obama threw it out in the general election. The media would turn it into "The first Black President vs Racist". I think he has to expect this and his answers to it have been more than good.

"These were written without my approval or knowledge, I disavow anything that was said in them. Everything I've ever written and said contradicts what was said in them." What more can you say?

Yeah, he could of said, how many times are you CNN people going to ask the same question that I've answered over and over? It was not me writing the newsletters and attempting to implicate me, is like trying to implicate Arianna Huffington for something she didn't know about, that one of the bloggers at the HuffPo wrote.

Its time for Carol to speak out in an ad

And say what?

I keep seeing this on the forums and even Doug Wead's facebook page... but I have yet to see anything beyond "put Carol in ad" or "let Carol speak"... what exactly do all of you "put Carol in an ad" folks want her to say? What's the message of the ad?

You guys still watching CNN?

I wanna reach threw the TV and strange these assholes, I've heard isolationist like 10 times in the last 10 mins and repeatedly calling his economics disastrous for America.

Yeah I felt he handled the newsletter question better in his previous interviews. For this interview he was really on his game for all the other questions but got flustered a little at the end there. It happens sometimes, no one's perfect. I just hope that behind the scenes he really solidifies a response and knocks it out of the park from now on, because this is not going to go away. It's the last bone the media has and they are going to use it until the end. Sure the accusations may stop if Ron wins Iowa and New Hampshire, but only because the elites will want to save some meat for the general election just in case they need to use it one final time.

Ron, there's no complicated answer you have to give. Just like was said above. Just say that you lent your name to many newsletters. That the remarks in question were written and approved without your permission during the time that you left politics and went back to medicine, and that you don't know which ghost writer was responsible but that it wasn't you and that you strongly oppose them. Simple as that. Then if pressed further you can use the opportunity to drop some truth bombs about the issues you have stressed.

That's David Frum. author of "don't endorse Ron Paul" 5 days ago hxxp://www.frumforum.com/dont-endorse-ron-paul

Well... carrying this beyond the letters nonsense(Which I hope the campaign straightens out RP responses)...

What is it with campaign's lack of woman in their political Ads? Besides the "Life" quick narration of a female voice, that's it. The 'CONVICTION' and 'LIFE' ads are the most affective Ads with conservative voters. Just hope they have the strategy set correctly for the future.

AnyHoo... I liked the CNN Drunk David Gergen piece at the 6:06-6:10pm est segment

John King is talking about him again. Some very nice things were said. "If Paul is so fringe and out there and doesn't have a chance, why is the GOP afraid of him?". King also said that he felt RP was too isolationist but would influence the primary.

Another pundit - Ron Paul is the Jesse Jackson of the GOP.

KING: But just the threat of a third party run should make the establishment more polite to him.

They show the third party poll with Paul at 22%

Frum - People want an explanation. Ron Paul offers an explanation. But he goes in the wrong way. He has the party arguing for higher interest rates in the middle of a depression. A monetary policy that rehashes the great depression. Give him too much credit. Its a destructive domestic AND foreign policy"

Carville - 76 years old. Last run. Certaintly he gives them something. He has access and energy from youjng people. It has been a disaster for the GOP in that regard. Paul has the wrong answer. But his position on the wars is right. Pleasant man. He comes across as someone who is genuine and says what he means, means what he says.

King - Authenticity is important.

Woman - RP is not considering the repercussions of a third party as it would impact GOP taking over house.

Frum - "We do not want another family dynasty, so we are turning to the Paul family dynasty and their fundraising machine?"

WOW

Can't expect praises from a hostile panel. Better than no press. They talked about him for 15 minutes solid. He is on the radar.

Frum is saying Paul is having a political dynasty and people don't want dynasty.....huh, Bush, Bush? umm, Obama has basically been Bush III, and people don't want dynasty?

David Frum is rubbish!

there are not many true neocons, mostly people misuse that term to refer to hawkish national security conservatives. But national security conservatives, if they really believe the debt is damaging our national security, consider that a valid point to factor in. Neoconservatives simply want bigger, more, and occupation for its own sake.

Frum is a true neoconservative, as are Levin and Lord. And Kristol with his Weekly Standard of course, his Dad having been one of the originals. Talk about family dynasties... :p
