Ron Paul on CNN State of the Union (1/1/12) - 9am ET

For everyone who criticized Ron Paul for taking the weekend off from campaigning in Iowa, THIS is one of the main reasons he went home. To do all these news shows on Sunday, and prepare for them. These shows will reach many more people than town hall meetings with only a couple of hundred attending. And they can frame him better on camera from his home, rather than on the campaign trail looking tired and worn out.

I like your reasoning. :)

Ron did good, but once again: he fails to use the time to contrast himself with Obama, and give voters simple "red meat" reasons to vote for him--in other words: he wasted another national TV appearance. If you don't understand what I'm saying, watch Doug Wead do what needs to be done. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4LfsP85mQoI

That was a wasted interview because he didn't say something you think he should say? I agree it could have been slipped in, but to reply that it was a wasted interview, please.

I totally understand what you are saying. The newsletters had that kind of stuff, and it is still blowing up in his face even though he never wrote them. The fact that he doesn't use even red meat is one of the reasons I knew he didn't have anything to do with them. He doesn't believe in demagoguing. I understand there are a lot who like that, I really do, but it is shady and manipulative to my mind, and I'm not the only one.

Also, he needs cross over votes in Iowa, anyhow. He has 39% of the 24% of intended GOP caucusers who are not GOP per the last PPP poll, and I suspect he wouldn't if he bashed Obama with red meat.

Exactly.

Cain was able to move up in the polls to frontrunner from interviews and debates because he used his time wisely, Ron on the other hand would be in single digits if he had to depend on those two things. We can ignore it, or we can try to improve it by accepting what's happening.

OK if this is the official thread, can you edit the first post later to include the youtube when it happens?

Sorry - real voters in Iowa > general TV audience not focused on Iowa

did you see the crowds 'surging Santorum' got yesterday? Twitter was full of it, laughing. Media outnumbered voters. Doubtless Ron would have gotten more, but he was sick and needed to get well with a huge week coming up. He'll be back tomorrow.

are you assuming no one who votes in Iowa was watching these interviews? Or will not see the interviews on youtube?

the whole point of these small states is that the candidates like to look and touch.

If you said these interviews help awareness in New Hampshire, South Carolina, Florida, etc I'd buy that argument, except that then you'd be still running a national educational campaign, not a campaign to win the White House. If you guys haven't figured out the MSM is never going to give Ron a fair shake by now, you never will. We need to continue alternative channels to have any chance.

There's this little concept in marketing called target demographic, it plays an important role.

Getrich looked sick a few days ago too. Bad cough and runny nose. Not real attractive :p

Tubezz Please!!!

Nope, cain moved up because of the media bump after the florida straw poll.

I love how Ron brings up the fact that DEMS AND INDIES will be coming out to vote for him, and THAT IS HOW YOU WIN A GENERAL ELECTION.

(It was also a nice HINT to all those IA Dems and Indies to get their butts out there) : )
