Ron Paul on Cavuto 3-10-09

Being against the war has been an unpopular position too, but he will stand up for what he thinks is right, and tell you why. This, like his foreign policy positions, is just a matter of education.

I agree. But it's an uphill battle. The MSM (both right and left media) have been brainwashing the public for months about how evil and wasteful earmarks are. They even have a name for it: Pork.

Now people everywhere are complaining about Pork in all the bills. You really think they're gonna hear when we come preaching that earmarks can be OK?

Ron Paul LOVES an uphill battle. :p

I thought he did pretty well explaining it. Whether the sheep understand it is a different story. Others are correct that it's an uphill battle trying to undo what the MSM has worked so hard to do. 95% of casual watchers have no clue what an earmark really is and that's completely intentional.

Glad you brought this up. His floor speech on it from TODAY is up at www.house.gov/paul

No regrets about doing this interview, either. He's eager to explain and defend his position. Not everyone is ready to hear and understand the truth. They just enjoy fomenting about egregious examples of waste, which there are, no doubt. But many pundits are being disingenuous about the issue and taking a cheap opportunity to grandstand.

I think he did a good job explaining his position.

A word he should use readily in these type of interviews is transparency.

People want regulation well there it is.
This is exactly what the money must be spent on.

He did all right, but most people aren't going to completely understand it. He really needs to come out shooting with something like, "earmarks and pork are NOT the same thing, that's just a lie that the media perpetuates."

Cavuto was right though, it is "like having his cake and eating it too."
Not that there is anything with that, I like cake.

do we still not understand this whole thing???

1.governement takes your cake
2.you'll starve without cake
3.government intends to redistribute
4.Paul votes no on the whole process, but yes to get a piece of your cake back to you. otherwise you'd go cakeless and other people would eat your cake

I've understood it for quite a while, thanks.
Cake = getting to stand up for his principles and vote against it.
Eating it too = gets the money for his constituents when the other robbing bastards vote for it.

Yeah, that fits.

I thought it went fairly well, Cavuto wasn't really on the attack and had to agree with Paul several times.

As long as there are still people who don't even understand what an earmark is, LET ALONE HOW A BUDGET WORKS, Ron needs to be out there preaching it!

At least he might be encourage people to think about ita bit more, wake up the reasonable listeners out there.

i thought you meant (as well as what Covuto meant) that Paul is basically a liar.

I sure hope it's not being lost on everyone that the mere fact that Ron Paul is being taken to task over this is absolutely fabulous. They aren't ignoring him. They see him as a real threat and are trying to discredit him. I believe this in and of itself is a clear sign that 2012 is looking good.

I thought Cavuto went light on him actually.

Not sure what I think about his answers....
