... In which explains his point of view. In a manner that is easily digested and understood.

A masterful script With Nuances That touch fear mongering, Rush to judgement, Create enemies, Neo conservative manipulation, Economic drain.... Makes us less safe.

This needs to run in south carolina.

+1. Totally agreed.

IMHO Rand Paul does a great job explaining this, the ad script can be taken from his talks or perhaps even written by him.

Seriously: how difficult could it possibly be for the at large American public to understand that foreign interventions stir up hate against the US/West? It's a no-brainer for everyone not living in the US it seems.

A minute long ad isn't going to make the public understand this, it's only through the debates when enough people have fallen out and aggressive groundwork he can win over people.

There are tons of misconceptions though, like "cut defense spending" and that kind of nonsense. That's what should be the primary objective of these ads, education and explaining his actual positions.

I agree. I was sitting in the debate crowd last night. When he mentioned the "Military industrial complex, and Eisenhower", I heard an older mom GOP'er lean forward and say "Eisenhower?!?!?".

I also had an old man come find me after asking me why such young people are showing up everywhere this year, come speak to a group that was confused on Ron Paul's foreign policy.

And one more example, while waiting for the debate to start, we(me and 4 marines) converted a Newt girl (somewhat) over to Ron Paul after she incorrectly stated Ron Paul was an isolationist.

So YES! This needs to badly be address in SC. I can tell you from personal, upfront experience with the very likely GOP voters in that state.

Agreed - this is important. Why let the media control the message on the topic. Its no secret that foreign policy is the hangup with most establishment republicans (and a few non-establishment). As correct of a policy as it may be, it will take more education to get people to understand.
Its just to big of a leap for many people who have been conditioned to fear monsters, for most of their lives...

Sadly, the Bush mantra of 'you're either with us or against us' is still the order of the day for many and the GOP feeds on it.

I agree, and another ad explaining how his economic plan would be the only plan to sustain Social Security.

There are so many people who fail to understand Ron's foreign policy. I agree... this needs to be addressed at a level which many of these people can understand. I don't intend to sound mean; however, they are just not getting it.

... he can even talk about his own service. Show pictures from his military past.
It should not be from previous Lectures.

Have him wearing a flannel shirt talking to the american people And at the end of him say -
" Peace is prosperity and families united"

I agree. I'm still waiting for this. We have good attack ads on other candidate, but IMO we also have to address our perceived weaknesses, foreign policy and electability.

yes!! my 2 cents is that it should be different from what everyone expects..open the door on the MIC... it should be about who benefits...and then put the companies, and bureaucrats, "pentagon contractors"... show dead bodies first or caskets, civilian casualties.... show iran is dangerous, nuke, propaganda snippets, then show the profiteers... the people think this Iran/nuke imaginary story is why we want to attack...its time to show them the truth... tie in the Iraq war profiteers as well, and show the similarities.. RP has already mentioned MIC several times w/no explanation...and Doug Wead has mentioned "Pentagon contractors" sending off our troops to die at least twice and has been cut off from going into it...

Fact oftentimes is an ineffective tool to change opinions. A more visceral approach is necessary sometimes. I was inspired by a post a while back where someone asked how it was logically consistent for a conservative be be both pro-life and pro-war and came up with this idea for a commercial.

A child is born in the hospital. His parents are overjoyed as tears flow down their face. The child grows up, graduates college, joins the army. He gets out of a helicopter in full gear where another soldier outside says "Welcome to Iraq". Short scene where the soldier and his squad is caught in an ambush. The soldier dies. The last scene is of the wake that takes place in the persons home. Camera slowly zooms towards a tv in the house where a journalist reports that there were no WMD's in Iraq. Screen fades to black and the words "Vote for the candidate that chooses life over war."

This commercial can actually be created using existing footage on youtube except for the last scene.

How do you guys think this will come across to the conservative base?

You're absolutely right, I just wrote a post about it but it's not up yet. Ron needs to address this in a major way. Foreign policy is a winning issue for him but he's doing his best to snatch defeat from the jaws of victory on the issue.

I totally agree. I am starting to get annoyed that the campaign has not released a plan on foreign policy or even at least an ad. IMO, foreign policy is what is holding people back. He needs to address it.

George carlin said "conservatives want live babies so they can make dead soldiers".

A RP that shows his foreign policy would be nice. Might take a couple of ads to get it through some of the thicker skulls.

I believe that a positive ad would be better received, not an antogonistic or negative ad, not now when santorum's major complaint is bashing and the other candidates are arguing amongst each other about negative ad campaigns, be the only positive ad out there, it will stand out.

Central to the theme of the ad must be that our current foreign policy recklessly endangers Americans at home and abroad by creating unnecessary enemies and making us the target of terrorism.

Remember this ad? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WOrVeUWTLXI

Obviously, Ron doesn't hold all of the same positions as Rand on all of the issues.. but we need a strong ad like that one. This was Rand's first ad; it pissed a lot of people off but it was effective at combating the FUD campaign that Grayson inevitably mounted.

It's not too late for the campaign to come out with a strong ad that reassures voters without compromising or watering down our message.

Foreign Policy is electability. We are only perceived as hard to elect in the primary because of misinformation.
