Theoretical question here. I understand that if Dr. Paul were President, he would bring all overseas troops home as soon as possible. I also understand that there exist defense treaties obligating our troops in certain areas. The link below says Ron Paul would withdraw troops to the best extent possible, but my question is, how many troops would be left overseas? Can Dr. Paul really even close all these bases overseas?

Define 'overseas'.

Technically, 'home' and 'overseas' are one and the same. We have territories from the Virgin Islands to Guam; from the Carribbean to the China Sea. That's almost half the circumference of the globe. Under a Ron Paul administration, we'd have had our troops home and across the 'ponds' all at the same time. We'd have our cake and eat it too.

This nation consists of more than forty-eight states.

Are these 'Defence Treaties" constitutional and how long would it take to get a supreme court hearing? Honestly, he could order every single troops home. Just as he could order a limited engagement without congressional approval so could he redeploy troops to the 'homeland.' If he wanted to. He would have 90 days.

I suppose I mean foreign countries only. Such as Germany, South Korea, Japan, the UK. Do treaties with them obligate a certain troop level? They cover majority of our troop deployment so those countries are particularly interesting.
