Ron Paul killed it with TWO voting blocks tonight. REAL progress!

I loved how Newt couldn't answer the military service question.

He kept coming up with answers like "I know what it's like to be in a military family" stuff.

What a chicken.

Agreed, Dr. Paul did well answering Newt on the draft. he looked like the more honorable man up there. My only suggestion would have been to turn Newt's argument back on him. Newt said his father was in Vietnam and knew what strain that had on the family. Paul could have retorted "If you know what strain it has on the family, then you shouldn't be doing that to tens of thousands of families across the country when you send their father's to fight undeclared wars."

Weirdest thing.

My mom called me right after the debate and she's a Bush neocon and she was excited to talk about Ron Paul. She said he was funny and came off personable. Explained how his economics text book answer came off as genuine and impressed her and now she'll be considering him more. Still not a fan of his foreign policy but likes his approach to the debt.

Ah yes, awesome! I could tell that his economic answers actually came off REALLY well. He honestly sounded like the only one up there that really understood economics and I think that puts him in a very strong position as THE authority on the subject. Also, he was less confusing than normal and I think even if people didn't entirely understand what he said, they understood they *he* knew what he was talking about, and that puts him in a good position.

Unfortunately, blacks are a very small voting block in the Republican party, so winning them over doesn't really help. I do think that his excellent answer will help put the newsletter questions to rest.

It's a good thing, then, that some of these primaries are open

Tonight was definitely one of the best debate performances I've ever seen from Ron. The statement about serving in the military, his response about contraception after Mitt stumbled was spot on, and he finally had a great response to the newsletters. Really excited to see such a good debate for Ron right before the NH primar!

oops, sorry for the reply spam. Just wanted to say to this one, I agree! He cited the constitution well and was very clear and succinct. It really made him out to be the guy who knows his stuff.

Freerepublic is about as honest as CNN. If you ever wanted to see herd mentality in action there you go. (If you stray from the herd, by the way, you get shot.)

It might be the only forum of any significant size in the history of the Internet to have more banned users than non-banned ones. Like the Communists they have periodic purges of those who do not toe the party line.

It used to be an interesting place back before George Bush was President. Ever since it's been basically Redstate with even less class.

I can't wait until RP is the nominee and all the heads explode there. It will be an epic popcorn fest when that happens.

He referenced that he was the only one on stage talking about the racism of our inJustice system, noting that even democrats aren't working to change those laws.

He was making a point that he was the only one out of the both the Repubs and Dems that understands the truth about the drug war. He just phrased it very strangely

For the MSM anointed GOP nominee for President of the USA, where the Constitution is the law of the land to defer to Ron Paul for help on how to apply the Constitution to any situation just shows how qualified Ron is to protect t our country and our freedom. RP pulls at least 25% of the black vote in a general election I think, if not more. Not a lot of black people who don't personally know someone hauled off to jail over drug war bullshit - the rate of incarceration of young black males in particular is astronomical.

Agreed. Holder is big factor as well. Some guys I know call him Uncle Holder. Between him and Obama, there is fertile ground to reap dividends. But there is still a connection that will be difficult to overcome in the general for any GOP contender.

I utterly reject this type of thinking and feel it just plays into the group-think divide and conquer tactics of tyrants. There is no "black" vote, there are only individual votes.

In my experience, tabling, attending meetings, etc in NYC we have individuals of all "types" stop by to express support and it seems foolish to ignore any individual

Totally agree. I like to think we actually follow and believe the philosophy of individualism, not collectivism.

We must win one vote at a time, not "groups" if the philosophy is ever to take hold.
