Ron Paul killed it with TWO voting blocks tonight. REAL progress!

Ron has lots of latino votes ;D heres 1, and i can count quite a few family members and friends who support him 100 percent!

He presented the message tonight with much more emotion tonight. He talked about his "pet peeve" regarding sending kids off to war, was very adamant.

Its a shame they scheduled the debate to occur during the football...err basketball... game. Then again I'm not surprised that they did.

I do think that his excellent answer will help put the newsletter questions to rest.

If we had a truly objective media I would agree with you. It's easy enough for them to disregard this and keep pressing him. It's pretty much all they have other than outright ignoring him, which is what CBS is back to doing.

Is there a toob of the debate? I was out for a few hours and missed the whole thing.

I quickly went over to FR to see what the neocons were saying. I don't know what Paul said in the debate, but they seemed to have renewed hatred for him over there... lots of freepers calling him a "liar" and a "liberal" and "nutcase", etc. A few people said that he accidentally called himself a Democrat? Is that true? God, I hope not.

And I REALLY want to see the Newt exchange!!!

Ron totally killed it tonight. He was on point, answered directly, even pulled out the "please don't interrupt me" line smacking down the second-tier peanut gallery. "I just got one thing to say...I went," and keeping on point with Santorum on even after he answered the corruption charge, he couldn't answer the "voting to raise the debt ceiling and doubling spending on education" points...these were truly winners.

I only wish that he could work on a positively-spun answer that projects a Ron Paul presidency, so when he is asked for a "vision" he doesn't give the what's wrong and what I'll fix speech again. He's right with everything he says, but he needs to rosy it up so people have (I know, cliche) "Hope" in him. He's used the terms before "prosperous", "restore liberty", "get the business cycle going again", etc. This is what the unemployed, over-regulated, and over-taxed folks want to hear....

If this is Ron in January, I can't wait to see him in April and June!!

Ron nailed the contraception question. Then they went to frothy and he was completely clueless. I laughed out loud. What a turd.

There are some voters who are so stupid they think libertarian and liberal means the same thing.

Tonight was definitely one of the best debate performances I've ever seen from Ron. The statement about serving in the military, his response about contraception after Mitt stumbled was spot on, and he finally had a great response to the newsletters. Really excited to see such a good debate for Ron right before the NH primar!

Freerepublic is about as honest as CNN. If you ever wanted to see herd mentality in action there you go. (If you stray from the herd, by the way, you get shot.)

It might be the only forum of any significant size in the history of the Internet to have more banned users than non-banned ones. Like the Communists they have periodic purges of those who do not toe the party line.

It used to be an interesting place back before George Bush was President. Ever since it's been basically Redstate with even less class.

I can't wait until RP is the nominee and all the heads explode there. It will be an epic popcorn fest when that happens.

if you have time on your hands and you want to see what my history is there go search google on the phrase "thoughtomator +site:freerepublic.com"

I was originally one of their first few thousand members.

He referenced that he was the only one on stage talking about the racism of our inJustice system, noting that even democrats aren't working to change those laws.

I loved how Newt couldn't answer the military service question.

He kept coming up with answers like "I know what it's like to be in a military family" stuff.

What a chicken.

#1 they can always vote in open primaries

#2 this not being the 1960s anymore there are a lot of Republicans who are sick of the drug war and under no illusions as to how despicably racist it is. RP should talk about the drug war being a major factor in breaking up black families - you can appeal to every GOP constituency at once with that line.

I posted something similar elsewhere, a modified version of this would slay as an answer:

Well, Ron is philosophically for people being able to use marijuana and other substances which are currently illegal. It's part of his appeal to independents and sane liberals.

His states' powers position on the issue is simply his recognition that dictating from D.C. is a concentration of power, which is obviously an invitation for horrible things to happen (like the criminalization of plants).

Realistically speaking, pardoning non-violent drug offenders and ending prosecution of the War On Drugs would effectively decriminalize drugs. It'd also reunite many broken families.

Ending the war on drugs: pro-family, pro-life, and anti-welfare

... A few people said that he accidentally called himself a Democrat? Is that true? God, I hope not.

He was making a point that he was the only one out of the both the Repubs and Dems that understands the truth about the drug war. He just phrased it very strangely

Unfortunately, blacks are a very small voting block in the Republican party, so winning them over doesn't really help. I do think that his excellent answer will help put the newsletter questions to rest.

It's not about winning the black vote, it's about removing the stigma of being a racist. Many in the party will refuse to vote for a racist, and also know that such a stigma will hurt his general election electability, especially against a black President.

Weirdest thing.

My mom called me right after the debate and she's a Bush neocon and she was excited to talk about Ron Paul. She said he was funny and came off personable. Explained how his economics text book answer came off as genuine and impressed her and now she'll be considering him more. Still not a fan of his foreign policy but likes his approach to the debt.
