Ron Paul is the Hipster Candidate

Hipsters can *beep* right off from this movement, IMO. Take your fedoras (are those still in?) and suspenders and GTFO to the next temporarily-cool-until-enough-people-know-about-it trend.

Did the hipster never call you back :p?

I can't stand hipsters as much as the next guy, but I'll happily take their vote, money and time.

Ron Paul should dress as a hipster at least for one public appearance.

It would маке хим море маинстреам

What a stupid attempt to paint this as a cult of personality. While it's not surprising that these nonconformists (who ironically conform to what's not "mainstream") support the candidate the mainstream doesn't like, it obviously isn't them that are driving the movement. In fact, it's probably far more likely that these are the small segment of "supporters" who never do anything or show up to the polls.

However, the one valid part of the articles is that if the media and establishment actually welcomed Dr. Paul with open arms, most of us would be far more skeptical that he hadn't been bought off... That has absolutely nothing to do with "coolness" though, it has to do with integrity, and that's where we ppart ways with the hipsters looking for the latest nonconformist thing to latch on to and trash later.

I'll shrivel up and rot before I date a hipster :P
But you're right. I should more open to shamelessly taking advantage of them!

God I hate the term Hipster even more than I hate the term 'emo'. Why? Because if somebody doesn't like something about someone they call them a Hipster. If they don't like a band or music, they called them emo. And it makes no sense. 99% of the bands labeled as emo don't even fit the original definition. As for Hipsters, well, the people that dress that way are annoying. My biggest pet peeve about 'hipsters,' being someone that HAS to wear glasses, are the people that wear non prescription glasses, or when even moreso when they are giant frames that just loook stupid. It is incredibly annoying. But my problem is the label. Stop categorizing people. Its annoying.

As a side note, I miss the days when music was simple genres, like rock, metal, punk, Jazz, blues, hip hop, folk, and country. These days have become such a joke when describing music. We have black, hair, death, thrash, Gothic, power, speed, and probably 18 more types of just Metal.

I'm not even sure what a hipster is.....

Hipster is the new emo for people with collectivist and mainstream mindsets to put people in groups and hate on. Instead of hating on individuals, for some reason people decide to hate on entire groups of people. It's pretty stupid.

Remember when everybody hated emos? Now everybody hates hipsters. It's the "cool" and mainstream thing to do.

The funny thing is, I doubt anybody has ever described themselves as emo or hipster, it is a derogatory term that has been pinned on them. Emo was a style of music (actually, several styles), gothic was a style of clothing/make-up, and some how emo came to describe relatively peaceful persons who dresses in gothic clothing.

A stereotypical hipster is someone who keeps up on underground music, uses apple products, dresses more retro and is politically progressive. They are easy to make fun of because their reaction to people in the mainstream is often similar. Just like Ron Paul supporters are easy to make fun of because we react similar and use similar language toward people in mainstream politics.

But the thing is, everybody is an individual. So to put a person into a group as a "hipster" because of their clothes or because they are into underground music or something and then dismiss their entire personality is ridiculous.

I nominate the following except as the most arrogant thing I've ever read on the internet:

This if funny stuff! Possibly hall of fame material.

Hah, wow, we both made the hipster/emo connection at the same time :D

I miss being gay. Now, to be gay, I will have to change my sexual preference. Thanks pop culture for stealing the word gay and effectively removing what little gaiety there was left in the world and substituting a stereotypically male effeminate.

I do like the Hipster Libertarian. She's a YAL chapter leader. Her blog on Tumblr is one of my favorite.

People changed the meaning of the word, which I have no problem with. If government changed the meaning of the word then I'd feel for ya.

People assign the title of hipster. Not the government. I just want to be gay again... can't you understand that.

Three Gay Caballeros - comments are ridiculous btw.
