Ron Paul is set to have a car in the Daytona 500...

I'll Donate

I've donated to the campaign, but never to a grass roots effort. Millions of people watch this race. Great work to the team at ronpaulracing.com, this is the one!

this could be THE add we are looking for. there are tons of people who watch NASCAR. I used to 15 years ago but lost intrest. Ild watch this race though and tape it. I also think NASCAR needs to be informed about how many new viewers they would pick up just for the car alone. big money for them. they may just cut us a better deal.

Okay, the Daytona 500 involves two 125 mph sprints to set the fields.. who's the driver here? I mean, what're the chances of us getting in the dance?

The driver is Travis Kvapil. He has NASCAR Sprint Cup experience and ran very well in testing in this car (#28) earlier this month (4th fastest). Last season he raced in the Craftsman Truck Series. The car they'd like to sponsor finished in the top 35 in owners points so it will be in the field of the Daytona 500 regardless of its finish in its 125 Qualifying race. Some cars have to 'race into' the field in those 2 races but this car is among those that are locked into the field based on last seasons performance.

There is no risk that the car they want to sponsor will not be in the race. The risks here are that they fail short of the money required or someone else gets the deal first. The car owner will run the car without sponsor livery if none can be procured.

This car would not be in the Budweiser Shootout. I'm sure if the deal goes through it would be discussed on the telecast as it would be a big story.

How much is this costing?

Full sponsorship for the Daytona 500 and the preliminaries (qualifying, the 125 qualifying race) could run 300-400K. There is no risk of the car not being in the race.
The organizers will meet with the Yates Racing organization today and they'll be able to release more information.

Oh that car looks great; 300k is a lot of money to be raised still.

Perhaps one of our billionaires can help us out on this one :)
