This plan is already set up and ready to go. A car and race team has already been set up. Now it's just time for the grassroots to fund it. $7800 has already been collected in the last couple days. This is a HUGE opportunity for publicity.

I am in no way associated with the organization of this project, but so much has already been accomplished in it's name that I thought I'd throw it out here. These kind've major projects are what the Grassroots Forum was made for, so I'll ask the moderators not to throw this somewhere else. It deserves no less than a spot right here.

anybody here a member? we should let them know what ron paul is all about. it would be unfair if we didn't.

**ETA** that is just one of many nascar forums. if a nascar fan from here joined there would it be canvassing?

I have to disagree. Every time we try to "educate" a forum, we only end up causing trouble. Let the message soak in, rather than shoving it down their throats (which is what it will inevitably come down to).

If a media outlet would write a story about this...then we could probably get it on Jayski.com

That would be a HUGE boost ...pretty much every single NASCAR fan reads jayski's page. It is THE site for NASCAR info.

jayski has the story but it sounds like he won't run anything until Yates or whoever it winds up being announces the deal. Which is all contingent upon fund-raising.

I suggest trying to get on Jim Rome or Howard Stern and mentioning the project and the site.
I posted about it openly on the SpeedTV board and was booted pretty quickly so if the site is touchy about politics tread lightly.

I would expect no less.

BUT...if it is posted on the site that there is an agreement in principle with Yates at the Tuesday meeting, it would not surprise me if he verified it with Yates and then went ahead and posted something about it.

that would be the best case scenario

SpeedTV is Murdoch. Any mention of Ron Paul and you probably get the ban hammer.

I can't wait to see the looks on the other candidates faces when, as cash strapped as they are, they find out Ron Paul has a Blimp, AND a Race car paid for by his supporters. This will be great. I'll even watch the race, and I'm not a NASCAR fan.

Okay, the Daytona 500 involves two 125 mph sprints to set the fields.. who's the driver here? I mean, what're the chances of us getting in the dance?

How much is this costing?

Well, they've raised $6500.

A single race? I'd put that at between $15,000 or so, is what it costs the race teams., if you go cheap. Likely, it's closer to $50,000 when you add in entry fees and the like.

I'm not saying we should not get our hopes up.. just.. it's not an inexpensive thing.

I really hope that this cause becomes popular, because this is a great way to get name recognition.

but so far I have not seen it advertised anywhere. Even on this forum.

Please help get this done
