Ron Paul Iowa Veteran's Rally Discussion Thread: 7 PM ET

I don't get why some people here are upset the veterans aren't being talked about more. Paul's whole argument is that the veterans have sacrificed so much to defend the constitution and he's pointing out how the politicians in Washington aren't upholding the constitution that those in the military have fought and died to defend.

agreed

why doesn't this campaign get undecided voters out to these events?

I would think there have to be some undecideds in there. But you also have to energize the base as they are the ones who support us and recruit others.

I really do not like all of the negativity that pops up in these types of threads.

You realize that Ron has gotten to this point by doing exactly what he is doing, right? He'll be fine. Stop wetting your pants.

Indeed, I totally trust Paul and the campaign to do what they think is best, otherwise i wouldn't have donated repeatedly.

Everything Paul is saying ties in perfectly with veterans, no more sending them to war in far away lands to defend our "freedom" meanwhile at home our freedoms are taken away and the greatest danger to our nation is the debt and devaluation of our currency.

Ron's pretty much going completely off the cuff.... nothing wrong with that of course... but there's a time and place for stump speeches. And a televised veterans rally probably isn't it.

Each time the audience claps, Ron jumps topics.

Good example of why having a written speech as a guide = helpful. Without a prepared text, Ron has a tendency to jump around from one 'bread and butter' topic to the next.
