Ron Paul HQ Launches Mail Iowa Program!

Got my 50 mailed out this afternoon. I hand wrote the envelopes, the "Dear [name], " on the letter, and signed my signature on each letter.

Let's hope for the best.

I received 100 names today, just asked for the yesterday. 24 of them were duplicates so I asked for 50 more. That should keep me busy for a while. These are all Republicans from HU- JE.
A friend of mine asked for 50 also. I wonder if any campaign has ever tried this before.

oh good. I got CO-CR today and was worried we'd only made it that far in the alphabet.

Well, after allowing for duplicate addresses, I completed 96 lettergrams as of the batch going out tonight.

This thread has over 3000 views, hopefully some of the lurkers have been doing mail too.

I completed 115 so far 20 handwritten and 95 typed with handwritten dear, and sigs, all envelopes hand written. It looks like they are sending them out by county. They probably want to get the voters closer to the straw poll first and then move out from there to the outlaying counties. My first 15 were D's in the Des Moines are and the next 100 were S's in the Des Moines area.

I'm getting the Independents now. I'm going to handwrite, "don't vote for the lesser of the two evils, it's still evil. vote Ron Paul 2008. "

Here is my letter. I have to thank DavyDuke17 for some of the content. I just really liked your letter and we added a few things to make it even better. Feel free to copy this and use it as your own.

Dear Friend,

We are unpaid volunteers writing to you in support of presidential candidate Congressman Ron Paul. Like most Americans, we believe that this country is headed in the wrong direction and Ron Paul is the only presidential candidate that offers real hope for America.

What would make us devote our free time writing you today in support of this man?

Ron Paul is currently in his 10th term in Congress and has proved time and again that he votes on principle before party. He takes his vow to uphold the Constitution very seriously, as well as his commitment to lowering taxes and lowering the size of the federal government.

Here is a Brief Overview of Congressman Paul’s Record:
  • He has never voted to raise taxes.
  • He has never voted for an unbalanced budget.
  • He has never voted for a federal restriction on gun ownership.
  • He has never voted to raise congressional pay.
  • He has never taken a government-paid junket.
  • He has never voted to increase the power of the executive branch.
  • He voted against the Patriot Act.
  • He voted against regulating the Internet.
  • He voted against the Iraq war.
  • He does not participate in the lucrative congressional pension program.
  • He returns a portion of his annual congressional office budget to the U.S. treasury every year.

Congressman Ron Paul is very tough on the fight against illegal immigration. While he agrees that strong border enforcement is crucial, he realizes that we must end the incentives that cause the flood of illegal immigrants to come into this country. This includes ending the free handouts for illegal aliens that we cannot afford and putting an end to birthright citizenship or "anchor babies".

Ron Paul has been an outspoken leader against the Iraq War since before the invasion and advocates a humble foreign policy overseas while keeping us strong here at home. The Iraq War has diverted us from our fight against Al Qaeda and our hunt for Osama Bin Laden, which has only strengthened our enemy.

We would like you to consider supporting Paul for President at the Iowa Straw Poll in Ames on Saturday, August 11 from 10 am to 6 pm.

We invite you to visit his website at www.ronpaul2008.com or call toll free at 1-800-Ron-Paul to learn more about him and his positions. The best way to support him is to vote for Ron Paul at the Ames Straw Poll in Iowa. To RSVP and get more information, go to www.ronpaul2008.com and click the Iowa icon at the top of the page. We hope you can join us and we appreciate your time.

Sincerely,

The Brown Family

I will probably use this letter but add in that Americas Sovereignty is paramount and organization such as the North American Union jeopardizes it and must be stopped!

I will also add in something about the "founding fathers" and that our freedoms and liberty and the power of the government is ours...

lets not forget Ron Pauls freedom message..

etc...

is anybody mentioning anything about contributions from military etc..

or that quote from Hamahday?(spelling)

"if you could spend $35 to end the war in iraq and bring our troops, would you?
vote ron paul"

Requested 40 more. I may not get these out quite as fast, I have to admit doing letters is monotonous. I think I'll edit my letter some too, since mail may not get to people in time for the debate now.

Well time is of the essence, if you have to print some out, I don't think it would be a huge loss. I'm writing some and then typing some and including a small note.

I received 50 more names yesterday. They are Independents, all in the B's, so I guess we have gotten all the Republicans.

Just got my next 40... Independents starting with "G"

I guess I'll need to tailor a "Like you, I'm an Independent" letter. :)

Yeah.. for the Independents I stress that Ron Paul supporters come from all political parties and we are brought together by his honesty and his respect for the law. I have the K's.

Here is my letter, tailored for Independents. (I like writing the Indy's. I can really speak my mind :))

Italics I write by hand.

Hello,

My name is "real name" and I am an Independent voter in Charlotte NC, writing to you from my home, voluntarily and without compensation.

The political trends of the last several years are very disturbing to me.

Both parties in Washington DC have become more out of touch, and fallen more into the pockets of lobbyists, than ever before. Federal power has continuously expanded. The President and Congress are too willing to ignore the Constitution, and grab authority over our personal lives and property.

It is time to pull the reigns back on Washington, and bring decision making back to local communities as the Constitution intended!

We as Americans, traditionally divide power between the parties. We have already seen the arrogance and mismanagement that beset the Republicans, after voting them into both the presidency and the Congress. Now because of Bush’s unpopularity, resulting from scandals and the fiasco in Iraq, we risk handing the Democrats all the levers of power in 2008.

Most of the Republican presidential candidates, are not offering much in the shape of change.

But there one presidential candidate, with an unblemished record of sticking to principle and service to his constituents, that deserves consideration. That man is RON PAUL.

Ron Paul wants to steer the party back to it’s roots, by embrancing individual liberty and small government again. His support comes from many quarters. From people soured on politics that have not voted for years, looking for honesty and integrity in a candidate. From anti-war Democrats that feel their party is not doing enough. From constitutionalists, and arch-conservatives that feel that the Republicans never delivered on their promises for responsible financial management.

If elected, he would act to:
  • Repeal the Patriot Act, and restore our privacy
  • Repeal the Military Commissions Act, and restore our civil rights
  • Stop endangering our soldiers in Iraq’s civil war
  • Cut government spending, (for real this time)
  • Enforce immigration law, and protect American sovereignty
  • Let states set their own education, environment, and regulatory laws.

The party establishment has tried repeatedly to marginalize his voice. His message of reform is not comfortable to them. But the people are listening, and attending his speeches by the hundreds.

Please research Ron Paul, as a choice for this country. Consider going to the Ames straw poll this August 11th and voting for him, to show the county that WE WANT CHANGE!

What happens in Iowa matters nationally, because the news media declares only a few candidates as “viable” and I want Ron Paul to be campaigning when my state holds its primaries. I am a real person, and this is not a mass-mailing from “the campaign”. If you have any doubt, write me back and I’ll prove it!

Thank You for taking the time to listen to my request. Regards,

My Letter to Iowans

Hi everyone. Below is the 2-page letter I used for mailing Iowans in the Mail Iowa program. I wrote most of the prose (but took the "unpaid volunteer" suggestion) and included some bullets from the Paul campaign literature, as well as the concluding Judge Napolitano quote that someone had mentioned. I formatted it somewhat differently (indented paragraphs with a couple extra pixels in the line spacing; date & closing center-right justified) but the content is there. Feel free to use it or modify it for your own use.

July 30, 2007

Dear Friend,

I am an unpaid volunteer writing to you in support of presidential candidate Congressman Ron Paul. I am very inspired by his message of returning to the principles of the Constitution and protecting our freedom from the intrusion of the government.

Ron Paul models his views on foreign policy after those of the founders of our country. He often refers to George Washington’s advice to “stear clear of entangling alliances” and advocates a policy non-interventionism in the internal affairs of other nations. He points out that we are borrowing 3 billion dollars daily from foreign interests, which include communist China, to maintain our current policy of “policing the world.” Ron Paul wants to talk to other countries and set an example that would make them want to emulate us, instead of engaging in nation building by means of force.

I agree with Ron Paul that, in spite of what was sold to the public after 9/11 to pass the Patriot Act, we do not have to sacrifice any of our freedom in order to be safe. Paul’s philosophy of freedom agrees with Benjamin Franklin, who is credited with stating, “Any society that would give up a little liberty to gain a little security will deserve neither and lose both.

Ron Paul is also right on another issue that you never hear other candidates bring up. He points out the true cause of the inflation that lowers our standard of living. The Federal Reserve prints new money “out of thin air” and the elite use it before it becomes devalued. Then the markets correct for the dilution of the money supply which is the inflation that hurts the middle class and the poor. Ron Paul wants us to go back to a sound monetary policy where the money is backed by tangible assests, such as gold and silver, so that the elitists cannot continue to debase the dollars that you work for and that you hold in your savings.

If I have piqued your interest, please continue to read about Congressman Paul’s record over his ten terms of office:
  • Ron Paul has never voted to raise taxes.
  • Ron Paul has never voted for an unbalanced budget.
  • Ron Paul has never voted for a federal restriction on gun ownership.
  • Ron Paul voted against the Iraq war.
  • Ron Paul voted against the Patriot Act.
  • Ron Paul voted against regulating the Internet.
  • Ron Paul has never voted to raise congressional salaries.
  • Ron Paul does not accept any benefits from the lucrative congressional pension program.
  • Ron Paul returns a portion of his annual congressional office budget to the U.S. treasury every year.
If you would like to know more about Congressman Paul, I encourage you to visit his campaign web site at www.ronpaul2008.com or call toll free to 1-800-RON-PAUL. Paul also writes a weekly column which gets archived on www.ronpaullibrary.org. You can hear him read his current column by calling toll free to 1-888-322-1414. There are also many of his interviews and speeches available at www.ronpaulaudio.com. He discusses many issues such as immigration, personal privacy, the income tax, state sovereignty, health care, education, and the environment. You will find that his positions are rooted in the Constitution.

The 2008 election will be a crucial election for this country. It is a chance for the people to reclaim a government “of the people, by the people, for the people.” If you believe in this message, please support Ron Paul.

On August 11, there will be a GOP Staw Poll in Ames, Iowa from 10 am to 6 pm. The best way you can support Ron Paul is to participate in the poll, casting your vote for his candidacy. If you decide to attend, please RSVP via the IOWA link on www.ronpaul2008.com or by calling 1-800-RON-PAUL. There is a ticket fund and ride-coordination effort for this event organized at ronpaulstrawpoll.blogspot.com.

Thank you very much for taking the time to read my letter about Congressman Paul. He is an honest, principled man. I hope you agree that he deserves your vote.

Best Regards,
