Ron Paul hits two million in contributions!

I thought I heard he hit 2 million a while ago, a week after the SC debate. I thought it was on this forum, but can't seem to find it.

I think we're going to be surprised with the amount of campaign contributions Ron Paul has received so far.

2 million doesn't really put him in the top tier. It's an impressive number alone, but compared to everyone else, that isn't enough. If no one changed at all, then he will be fourth. Still not top tier. He needs a jump of about 15 million dollars to be considered top tier. And that's only if the others didn't move at all.

June 30th is the big date. And remember, that will not include anything past May 31st (so the Daily Show and debate effects will not be known until September). I sure hope he had a killer quarter- we have to remember that regardless of how well he did, we have to understand this is just the opening volley in a long battle. I like Aaron Russo's suggestion that people get a part time job and just sent those earnings to Ron Paul's campaign until hitting the max. We are going to have to get creative because the PACs that try to control government are not going to flood Dr. Paul with cash!

2 Million is significantly more than he has had. What matters is that his campaign is growing and that the media will eventually be forced to cover him.

If you follow the digg article back it was actually May 21st that they announced 2 million. Hopefully we have made significant progress since then.

Actually it is 4 million. I spoke with the Ron Paul campaign a few days to a week ago on this issue.

I wish people would stop DIGGing unsourced forum posts. O.o

Sure, I like anything about Ron Paul, but a Digg Story linked to a post is kind of weak.

Ron Paul hits two million in contributions
All from individuals. He only had 600,000 at the time of the second debate

That's exciting. I anxiously await the FEC filings which should be released around July 16th or so that will show us how he's doing financially against the other candidates. Is that $4 million total collected (minus whatever he's spent so far), or $4 million currently in the bank?

Though it would be wonderful if RP could pull in what other candidates pull, remember what he himself has been saying that those guys waste a ton of money on think tanks and high paid consultants and that he can run an effective campaign with less money and an active volunteer base.

Also, we can spend money buying posters, cards, t-shirts, bumper stickers, window stickers, etc. and it won't count toward the campaign.

The campaign has not released any official updated numbers, take any other comments with a grain of salt. The campaign HQ staff and volunteers (in Arlington across the river from DC) are the ones who answer the phones and respond to emails, but the Clute, TX office staffers are the ones processing the donations. I know, I keep bugging them for updated numbers, but it's educated guesses on the DC staffers part at any point in time.

No matter what, we all need to dig deep, hold fundraisers (lemonade stand, garage sale, sell that clutter on Craigslist, whatever) before the end of this month. The press has a boilerplate story already written: update on top tier and X candidate from the second tier "breaks out" and is now considered "viable" or competitive. We need to do what we can so that Dr. Paul is the "X" candidate.

Not saying I don't believe 2 or 4 million but here is an article that says 1.5 million. It also talks about one of Ron Paul's sons.

Is the main page with all of the presidential candidates and their FEC filings. Ron Paul, by far has been running a thrifty campaign. The last filing shows the $640K that he has received in contributions BUT he has only spent $115K of it.

If you compare that to any of the second tier candidates, most of them have spent at least DOUBLE that. Of the top tier candidates, Rudy has raised $16 million, but he has spent $5 million., Mitt has raised $23 million and spent $11.5 million. McCain has raised $13 million and spent $8 million.

One thing that cannot be calculated, however, is the army of minions (you and me) that do not let any blog, forum, or website go untouched if they dismiss our candidate.:D I don't think any of the other Republican candidates have the passionate supporters that Ron Paul does. That's priceless.

Ron Paul running for President makes me giddy! Wheeeeee!!
