Ron Paul has NEVER called for cuts in DEFENSE spending - Walter Block

Emmm... what does that article or even his thread have to do with associating with archaists?

Maybe he didn't read it.

The author makes a really good point. Ron Paul is not anti-defense spending. He's just tired of the U.S. wasting money on unnecessary offense spending.

"Ron Paul has NEVER called for cuts in DEFENSE spending "

That's good information, there is some confusion there. But we would still save trillions by ending the empire building.

Defense is a large word because it includes what a lot of people would consider defense spending. for example, dr paul believes that our troops should be well funded with equipment in foreign wars even if we disagree with the war(s).

defense could include missile defense systems in europe too.

Some people are confused about defense.

Some believe all of those bases our country has in other countries is because they are defending our country. After the confusion is finally put to rest, perhaps they will understand a country defends itself from inside it's own borders. The only time it should find the need to expand it's military outside of it's borders is when an actual war has been declared on another country.

That is a shame. He should be calling for massive cuts (and preferably elimination) to all military spending.

Mr. Block must not have heard Ron Paul's last interview on Antiwar Radio. He said that he didn't think that we needed anything more than a couple of submarines to defend ourselves and that tanks and bombers were unnecessary.

I wish Ron would come out for the abolishment of our standing armies, but then again, the politicos want him to actually try and win. Maybe a good ol' Anti-Federalist smackdown is in order if he loses his 2012 run. Come out in full force Ron! I know you got in you.
