Introduced in the House yesterday, HR 833:

To abolish the Board of Governors of the Federal Reserve System and the Federal reserve banks, to repeal the Federal Reserve Act, and for other purposes.

He has introduced similar legislation before, but it's good to see he's still putting this before Congress

Contact your congress person and ask them to co-sponsor. Where's Kucinich? Where's Marcy Kaptur? Where's the dude from Florida?

He should title it the Egalitarian Act of 2009 and put it up to committee. I'm sure they'd pass it through without reading it.

It won't pass...

If you try and send a letter to your congressmen about it, you will probably get a "Thank you for your message, however I'm going to do what I want" response.

As people become more upset with the government, this sort of token resistence could suddenly gain support and become significant. Probably not this year though.

I got a different response from Congressman Simpson than I normally get about the Fed.

Thank you for the informational material you enclosed in your recent correspondence regarding inflation. I appreciate your efforts to keep me informed of your views regarding issues affecting Idahoans.

In my efforts to better serve the constituents of Idaho’s Second Congressional District, I benefit greatly from the comments and suggestions of concerned citizens such as yourself. I read your materials with great interest, and I hope you will continue your active participation in the political process.

Once again, thank you for taking time to write to me with your concerns. The thoughts and opinions of Idahoans are important to me as your Representative in the United States Congress. I also encourage you to visit my website at www.house.gov/simpson to sign up for my e-newsletter and to read more about my views on a variety of issues.

Sincerely,
S
Mike Simpson
