Ron Paul has a Big announcemnt on Monday in Nevada!

One thing Paul could do is to sell off federal assets to pay down principle on the debt. Where do you suppose we could find a list of the assets they hold?

Excellent news, and way to many cool responses here to evoke them all.

I'm nervous.
Is it weird to have that much of an emotional stake in this campaign?
I don't know but I'm nervous as hell, on this subject (financing the government) more then most.I just erased 20 lines of rambling after reading back.I just hope he stays on the principles of Liberty (NO subsidies, NO gov. in the private sector, NO theft [difficult one there ^^]) and finds a ingenious why to promote it, the truth should be enough right ?

Maybe he will use part of the Liberty amendment to explain how we can pay for the debt / transition (http://www.libertyamendment.com/).

Even though the plan is probably already on paper, GOOD LUCK RON / RP STAFF.

ps : I thought this news would help me have a very peaceful night but now every thing I have ever read on taxes (way to much for a subject so EVIL) is rambling in my head.

Eliminate the income tax and IRS.
Eliminate the corporate income tax.
Eliminate the capital gains tax.
Eliminate the estate tax.
Eliminate the payroll tax.
Replace them with nothing.

Repatriate the revenue spent on these things by using half of it to eat into the national debt and the other halfto be returned to the taxpayers directly.
Balance the budget in 2013 and submit a balanced budget amendment to the U.S. constitution.
If there's no taxes where's the revenue going to come from?

I think step 1 should be:
Cut spending, simplify and flatten out corporate taxes. Audit the fed.

step 2:
Gradually lower all taxes as long as there's a surplus. Continue this until the debt is no more.

step 3:
Eliminate the Fed.

I was just at the venetian a few days ago! The only place I randomly wandered through and scoped out by myself. I knew there had to be a reason! :D

As far as I know this will be the first plan out that actually has spending cuts identified, and specific. I hope he axes all Corporate Welfare, Foreign Welfare, and MIC Welfare. Eliminates quite a few departments. Guts the Federal Registrar & Eliminates quite a few taxes. I hope he touches on Federal bribery of the States -- axe the bribe monies. I also hope he touches on the War on Drugs. That will save a lot of money. End the Wars. He could realistically cut a trillion dollars without touching domestic entitlements -- the true third rail. Give us the option to opt the fuck out. NO FICA TAX for me thank you very much.

Department of Education - $129.8B
IRS Operating Budget - 12.5B
Department of Comerce - 10.1B
TSA - 2.5B

There is $154B right off the top. Only 750B to go.
Time to END THE FED, or at least take away the interest on debt.

It will probably include means testing for SS along the lines of Rand's plan.Rand's plan plus $500 Billion from the empire. It's interesting to think that the Keynesian stimulus idea might work in his favour. There's so much nonsense believed out there that he could probably come up with something creative that they can't criticize from their own nonsense philosophy but which still takes you in the right direction.

The federal income tax is only 1/3 of the fed's revenue. The rest of the revenue comes from tariffs and such. If we cut back 1/3 we don't need any tax. Cato did a study last election where they concluded that if we were to cut the federal government back to the year 2000 and end the IRS we could have a balanced budget with only a 1% VAT tax. Ron Paul wants to replace the Internal Revenue Service with NOTHING, which may make some people weary.
I remember reading that too. A little 1% VAT tax could replace the income tax. Call it the Penny Plan :)

Remember if you balance the budget the economy will immediately take a 12% hit to GDP. If the non-government insolvent debt and fraud isn't expunged at the same time then the economy could be knocked back by up to 30%.

i'm sure i'm not the only one thinking this, but all this talk about Presidential "plans" to "get America working again" makes my libertarian heart cringe. when i hear either governor good-hair or one of the others tout their "plan" it really pisses me off. you know - quit f#cking planning and just go home....

most of us here would certainly agree that central planning only leads to deficiencies, so to anticipate an announcement of a "plan" is strange. the best central plan is no central plan.

that said, Rock on Ron. hope the media sucks this plan up and begins to ponder the benefits of freedom.

Green jobs: hemp farming and marijuana cultivation:cool:

Drill for oil at home immediately.
Place a moratorium on any new regulations and reevaluate all current ones with panels of small business owners.
End "isolationism" by trading freely and openly with foreign countries.
Audit The Federal Reserve and legalize competing currencies.
Balance the budget in 2013 and submit a balanced budget amendment to the U.S. constitution.

That would be a great plan, but to be able to accomplish the last item, you would have to add a few more to the list, eliminate Social Security, eliminate Medicare, eliminate Medicaid, eliminiate federal unemployment insurance, and eliminate welfare.
