Ron Paul has a Big announcemnt on Monday in Nevada!

The only tax plan that is acceptable is....

Zero Income Tax
Zero Sales Tax
Zero Corporate Tax

Honestly, although many espouse this idea, how does it work?

Even if the Federal Government is scaled back to its skin and bones...where does the revenue to run it come from? We'll still need defense, etc.? I need this answer to debate people against Paul as well. :P

IMO, 000 can only work after a transition is achieved. The spending is so overwhelming that we only collect .6 (or less) on the dollar. I'm on board with a flat tax under 20% (hopefully under 10) and while I like a 0 cap gain tax, very few people are making any gains by savings/stocks/whatever in order for this to make a diff. There is no way to save a Trill w/o dealing with major entitlements, the military cuts won't do it.

The main thing I want to see from Ron is a TRANSITION plan. It's fun to say things like "End the Fed", "End the IRS", but how do we get from here to there.
I believe these goals are possible, but the transition needs to be smooth and orderly. It could take 20 years and I'm fine with that, but how will his happen. We need to slowly get out of this mess and not hurt the elderly and the disabled that are currently relying on this system.

Look at your electricity bill. Look at your telephone bill. Look at your gasoline bill. They are LOADED with federal taxes. Liquor, cigarettes..they would be about half price without federal (and state) taxes. Then there are federal taxes at ports, airline tickets, so much I can not even think of. The government taxes most everything but tea. Think they learned their lesson on that one..

I am SOOO excited to see Ron's PLAN!!!!

Very good points

Some rich people re-invest everything in their business or their investments. Warren Buffet is one such person. He lives in the same Bungalow he bought in the 50's. He trades cars every 10 years. He may be insanely rich, but I don't think he should be taxed very much, because he personally does not benefit from it.
Movie stars, sports celebrities, trust kiddies, etc need to be taxed to the max, unless they change their ways and invest instead of spending on frivolities.
I want to see a tax system that encourages investment and discourages wasteful spending.

I don't know if I like this. Now the other candidates will have an economic plan to surge past RP in the polls. (tongue-in-cheek)

A hunch is the economic plan will be to close all bases around the world immediately and bring service men back to USA. The savings from doing so would help shore up Social security and medicare for the seniors (big win for votes right there). He has mentioned this in the past but without much detail how it would be done. It would be the real deal. That sounds catchy eh?

The plan is simple, and it's only three words:

End the Fed!

Since they have stolen the wealth of everyone in this country, as soon as they are gone we can all start to accumulate wealth again. Like it was way back before the Fed.

That one action will put us back on track to prosperity!

Really??? tax movie stars and the like to the max but not investors... Tax no one to the max! groups should not get privileges from our federal government

That won't sound catchy to the neo-cons and war-hawks. A major portion of this country (and I assume the GOP base) believe in at least some foreign intervention. Not me, just echoing some of the debate crowds.

Then we have the AIPAC problem: "How dare you not support Israel!". Paul is going to have to be extremely careful with his wording, after all, we're going up against the military industrial complex and the banking cartels here...the same crime syndicates that blew JFK's head off (IMHO).

Perfect timing by the campaign. Cast all sorts of doubt about Cain's plan THEN announce yours. I love it.

There's lots of ways to fund the government without income tax. Right now there's capital gains, corporate and payroll taxes in addition to all the excise taxes and fees on things like gasoline and telephones.

But if we wanted to go further and get rid of capital gains and payroll taxes there's still the corporate tax which is constitutional. But there are even more constitutional ways to fund a lean efficient federal government.

We could tax bad things like pollution (not CO2, but real pollution), cigarettes, etc. This would encourage companies to earn more income and innovate to generate less pollution and harmful products. We would also have the excise tax on gas to pay for the highways.

If that isn't enough, a "state-rate" tax can be imposed proportionally amongst the states to fund deficit spending in emergencies (national defense for instance). So a state with 10% of the population would be responsible to pay 10% of it's revenue to the federal government. This is good because it encourages politicians to desire less spending and not more, except in emergencies.

There would be all this revenue but more importantly, the spending would be reduced to constitutional levels without all the federal departments and bureaucracies. And keep in mind the states could still impose whatever taxes they like. But because the states are closer to the people, it's much easier to make them change their taxes if the citizens don't like it.

I'm completely "tax deaf". This is an area where I need some serious "edumacation".

I just hope his plan includes ZERO income tax and ZERO national sales tax.

I will not support anything less than ZERO on both.

If we get rid of both the above, I can live with a gradual phasing out of the corporate tax.

Hard to take u serious since you love them. Taking you for real would be magic.
