Ron Paul Endorses the Free State Project

Rep. Ron Paul talks with Free Talk Live ( http://freetalklive.com ) about what’s next, & gives a fresh endorsement to the Free State Project ( http://freestateproject.org )! Among other nice things about the FSP, he said, “I love the idea of the Free State movement and hopefully they can sent the example for others to follow.”

How is sharing my observation of what works and what doesn't arrogant?

Concentrating activism works. Being spread thin doesn't. Them's the facts.

I hope you understand that a common objection to the FSP is "But we need to free my state!" - probably because of all the sunken costs that people have as you pointed out - job, business, family, home, etc. It's hard to make those big changes for the promise of something that is only possible into the future. Therefore, the FSP attracts the most hardcore activists - many have sold homes and moved or sold businesses and left family to come here and get active. (I sold my home at a huge loss and moved my business from my home state of Florida.)

If life is comfortable where you are, then by all means, stay and enjoy it. Also, please let us know how much progress you have freeing Illinois. When you decide you have failed enough and can't take it anymore, we'll be here.

Can you tell me more about Keene? I've watched the 101 reasons video and checked out a lot of info on it because it really appeals to me but I would kind of like to get an idea of what the people there are like and what your experience has been like while living there.

According to Wikipedia, NH is 1 of 2 states (FL being the other) which doesn't tax the tobacco of premium ($2 or more) cigars. FL does tax them, though, because it has a general sales tax, unlike NH. People smoke and drink in cigar shops in NH (there are dozens of them). Liquor is also not taxed in New Hampshire.

NH tends to have the lowest prices on gas, liquor, wine, beer, cigars, cigarettes, cars and fireworks in New England and even in all of the Northeast in many of those categories. Heck, the lowest or near the lowest prices on liquor and cigars in the US.

I don't know about cigarettes but I think they start under $4.50 a pack. Let me check. Here is 1 store in NH. It says cartons start at $39.99 per carton (at that store). http://countrymilenh.com/cigarettes.htm
Brand Price per Carton
Gold Crest $39.99
Pyramid $40.99
Newport Non Menthol $49.99
Marlboro Special Blend Carton $49.99
Camel Carton $54.49

Thanks I am working on a plan for a move possibly.

I don't know what a battery is in this case but I'm pretty sure NH is at least as developed, if not more developed as anywhere else when it comes to using gold and silver to trade. For example, Shire Silver. The model has been so popular and successful that other groups including Freedom's Phoenix are using a similar model. There is another group that uses it. They even have a vending machine with bitcoins, gold, silver and so on. The vending machine was brought to Porcfest 2012 and there are photos of it on this forum.

Here is an interview about the vending machine while at Porcfest.

Remember that great 25 minute NPR Plant Money episode which was mostly about using silver to buy things at Porcfest 2011?

In fact, only in New Hampshire are political donations allowed in bitcoins.

We still need a lot of help on this front in New Hampshire. Sure, maybe 2 dozen or so of us from time to time barter gold, silver and other metals. We have several metal sellers including Shire Silver and Suns of Liberty but that isn't enough.

Oh, is the shire silver from NH, thats awesome. Look this is why Ron Paul has been going on about central banking because its the source of their power. They use our labour and resources against us, central banking is their mechanism to do this. You guys should start liberty schools.

Keene's activist community skews younger and more voluntarist. There has been more political action as late, but Keene will go down in history as the epicenter of liberty-oriented disobedience and media.

There are several families here, but they are rarely seen out and about. The visible activist community are younger and without children.

There are many social gatherings and lots of regularly scheduled outreach like Don't Take the Plea Deal and Jury Nullification.

You can find Keene-specific forums at the Shire Society forum at http://forum.shiresociety.com - good place to ask more questions and get a wider array of responses and meet more who live in Keene. The video you watched is a couple of years old now. The 150+ reasons to move to Keene are more current at http://move.freekeene.com

Does that help?

Yes, Shire Silver, which has inspired several copy cats (and Shire Silver supports that) is from New Hampshire. Please like it on Facebook (no, I am not connected to it, other than having bought some silver). https://www.facebook.com/ShireSilver

As for liberty schools, 3 have been started in NH in connection with people like us, to my knowledge. Unfortunately, 2 of the 3 are no longer around.

Thankfully, the public school laws, homeschool laws and business tax credit laws for scholarships were all dramatically improved in 2012 in New Hampshire. Now, if a parent objects to something taught in public school, the child doesn't have to be taught that information. NH went from some of the most restrictive homeschooling laws in the US to some of the least restrictive. Now, NH has a business tax credit laws for scholarships program in place which has already been named the best such program in the country and a model for the rest of the country. On that last point, the New Hampshire Ron Paul Campaign co-chair, Sen. Jim Forsythe, deserves a lot of credit for helping sponsor and pass the law.
