Ron stated the following in his interview with Free Talk Live on Friday: “I love the idea of the Free State movement and hopefully they can set the example for others to follow.”

We have the most exciting and robust liberty movement in the world, and Ron Paul knows it, having spoken at our yearly Liberty Forum event.

What are you waiting for? Get 101 reasons to move to NH and get active for liberty here: http://freestateproject.org/101Reasons

Here's video of where Ron Paul endorsed the FSP back in 2007 as well: http://freestateproject.org/intro/ron_paul

That would be cool, but unlikely. (Though he could easily win election as Governor here.)

Perhaps people should write to him and encourage him to do it? He's pretty settled in down south, so don't get your hopes up.

People should move to NH though, because it's a great idea and it's working, not because Ron Paul says he loves us. (Though it's nice to have him on our side!)

He'd be 87 before he could be elected Governor.

Why are so many Ron Paul supporters sheep? You need Ron Paul to move before you can move? Just move. Great things are happening in NH.

Ron Paul already spoke at 2 New Hampshire Liberty Forums. Heck, He's spoken in NH dozens of times over the years. Based on speeches given by Ron Paul per population of a state, I'd be shocked if Ron Paul hasn't spoken more in NH than any other state. Heck, maybe twice as much as any other state.

Plus, Ron Paul already endorsed the Free State Project. Perhaps the previous endorsement wasn't as nice, but still :)

Anyway, I agree with Ron Paul about the Free State Project. I see it as a way to bring freedom to one area and spread freedom to other areas.

Ron Paul in New Hampshire in 2007.

Great things will only happen in NH when people start using gold and silver as currency, until then you are still a battery.

I don't know what a battery is in this case but I'm pretty sure NH is at least as developed, if not more developed as anywhere else when it comes to using gold and silver to trade. For example, Shire Silver. The model has been so popular and successful that other groups including Freedom's Phoenix are using a similar model. There is another group that uses it. They even have a vending machine with bitcoins, gold, silver and so on. The vending machine was brought to Porcfest 2012 and there are photos of it on this forum.

Here is an interview about the vending machine while at Porcfest.

Remember that great 25 minute NPR Plant Money episode which was mostly about using silver to buy things at Porcfest 2011?

On today's Planet Money, we travel to a place where people are trying to live without government interference. A place where you can use bits of silver to buy uninspected bacon. A place where a 9-year-old will sell you alcohol.

It's the 2011 Porcupine Freedom Festival, known to its friends as PorcFest. It's the summer festival for people who think we should return to the gold standard and abolish the IRS.

We wondered how you make that work in real life. How do you, say, buy breakfast without involving the government? It's not easy.

In fact, only in New Hampshire are political donations allowed in bitcoins.

We still need a lot of help on this front in New Hampshire. Sure, maybe 2 dozen or so of us from time to time barter gold, silver and other metals. We have several metal sellers including Shire Silver and Suns of Liberty but that isn't enough.

No need to start a pissing contest. We're all trying to fix the areas that we live in. Diversification is the best ingredient in the liberty cook-book.

Crystallas, the point of the Free State Project is that many of us who have been doing activism in our hometowns and such figured out that it's a waste of time and effort. The only way to "fix" any area is to have a great concentration of activists in that geographic region. We have very diverse tactics - from politics to civil disobedience, to outreach, to media. We have all this diversity - in one geographic area.

Do or do not, there is no try.

What will it take for you to realize you aren't getting anywhere where you live? What is the criteria by which you will determine that it's time to concentrate your activism?

Ron Paul on speaking of 2016 on leno "obviously they knew I was joking". Can't count how many people on here "RON'S RUNNING IN 2016"

Yep, I was stunned to see how many people didn't realize he was joking. Maybe it's just wishful thinking.

I'm well aware of the FSP and followed it since the beginning. But by your logic, why not just move to a different nation and take over? Oh why? It's easier said than done?

There is still a considerable amount for someone to change before they are able to make such a move. Personally, I have my established business here, I have my family here, why should I throw away decades of hard work and abandon ship? Why should I give up a climate that I love for another(I have lived in 4 different continents)? It's more than just politics and activism, people have to play their role in the market.

What will it take for you to realize, that despite the challenges, that I have already gotten somewhere where I live. Sorry, but that is a terrible and insulting comment on your part. Ye of little faith. The only way to fix anything, is to attack the problem. Also, I hate one-sized fits all solutions, oh the irony. This might be the first time I have read anything from a porc about the FSP that is flat out arrogant.

And for the record, I am not against the FSP in any way, never have been.

How is sharing my observation of what works and what doesn't arrogant?

Concentrating activism works. Being spread thin doesn't. Them's the facts.

I hope you understand that a common objection to the FSP is "But we need to free my state!" - probably because of all the sunken costs that people have as you pointed out - job, business, family, home, etc. It's hard to make those big changes for the promise of something that is only possible into the future. Therefore, the FSP attracts the most hardcore activists - many have sold homes and moved or sold businesses and left family to come here and get active. (I sold my home at a huge loss and moved my business from my home state of Florida.)

If life is comfortable where you are, then by all means, stay and enjoy it. Also, please let us know how much progress you have freeing Illinois. When you decide you have failed enough and can't take it anymore, we'll be here.

That's a great point. This interview covers a lot more than just Ron Paul praising the FSP. It is around 20 minutes and covers a whole bunch of questions. There is even a question able Carol Paul.

Free State Project is getting flocks of movers. Be the next!

how much do cigarettes cost in NH?
IIRC, they were just under $6/pack (for premium cigs) but that was two years ago but just about everyone I knew had their own rolling devices and thus smoked for under $3/pack.

According to Wikipedia, NH is 1 of 2 states (FL being the other) which doesn't tax the tobacco of premium ($2 or more) cigars. FL does tax them, though, because it has a general sales tax, unlike NH. People smoke and drink in cigar shops in NH (there are dozens of them). Liquor is also not taxed in New Hampshire.

NH tends to have the lowest prices on gas, liquor, wine, beer, cigars, cigarettes, cars and fireworks in New England and even in all of the Northeast in many of those categories. Heck, the lowest or near the lowest prices on liquor and cigars in the US.

I don't know about cigarettes but I think they start under $4.50 a pack. Let me check. Here is 1 store in NH. It says cartons start at $39.99 per carton (at that store). http://countrymilenh.com/cigarettes.htm
Brand Price per Carton
Gold Crest $39.99
Pyramid $40.99
Newport Non Menthol $49.99
Marlboro Special Blend Carton $49.99
Camel Carton $54.49

BTW, that same store, The Country Mile also sells beer. Here are some of the beer prices. Remember, there is no sales tax or deposit fees - this is the price. Of course, specials vary from store to store and change from time to time. These prices are just a picture in time.

http://countrymilenh.com/beer.htm
Hamm's 30pk Cans $10.99
Pabst 18pk Cans $7.99
Keystone Light 30pk Cans $14.99
Keystone Ice 30pk Cans $14.99
Seagram's Lemonade 24oz-12pk Can $12.99
Seagram's Lemon Mango 24oz-12pk Can $12.99
Woodstock Rasberry Wheat 24pk Bottles $15.99
Magic Hat #9 12-22oz Bottles $14.99

I don't smoke so I don't know about cigarettes but Market Basket has many locations in NH and it has very good beer specials.

Keep in mind that incomes tend to be higher in NH than other places. With higher incomes and lower taxes, the low costs of these goods goes a long way.
