He has an unfortunate name however. On the off chance this guy gets elected, we'd have two of them in the Senate.

nice!

does he have a chance? I hear the AIP is a fairly large player in alaska

I think he has a better chance since he will be the conservative alternative to Stevens, who is now a convicted felon. Begich will probably win, but if the supporters of Stevens don't stick with him, Bird has a chance.

BARBARIC

Let that word resound from hill top to hill top, valley to valley, across this broad land!

Does he have a chance, or will people vote for the "lesser of two evils"?

I don't want to get my hopes up. I don't live in Alaska...

I'm sure the Republicans are looking for someone to vote for, now that Ted Stevens got convicted. As well as members of the AIP, since he's the nominee.

Too bad the Alaska Supreme Court ruled that secession was illegal:

I don't understand that.

Get BJ to introduce a Constitutional amendment after he gets elected. ;)

Bird likely doesnt have a shot at winning, but may score low double digits--enough to turn over the seat to Begich.

I know that sounds like im rooting for the Democrat, and that's cuz I am. In 6 years, when that seat is up, Bob Bird will be one of the frontrunners for it (he can run in the Republican primary, like he did in 1990). The others would be former Governor Walter Hickel (another AIPer), Lt. Gov. Sean Parnell (a Palin-ally), and Dave Cuddy (the guy who ran against Stevens in the primary this year, he's a millinoaire and Ron Pauler).
