Ron Paul, Buy a 15 Minute Block Of TV Time. Subvert The MSM! Speak To The People!

From Wikipedia:

Perot employed the innovative strategy of purchasing half-hour blocks of time on major networks for infomercial-type campaign advertisements; this advertising garnered more viewership than many sitcoms, with one Friday night program in October attracting 10.5 million viewers.

This would be great.

Well, I don't know how accurate this is, but I found this info, and a lot of other sites seemed to echo the same thing:

Would likely be cheaper if it was just Ron and production levels would not need to be what they might be for a serious commercial advertisement. Not to say it should look cheap, just pointing out that we aren't selling a commercial product that would need tons of production and graphics, etc.

It would be Ron, in a room sitting or standing, addressing America through the camera. Could be anywhere from 10.5 million, to half of that or perhaps less? Not cheap, that's for sure. But I think we could raise a good chunk of change for a well thought out television ad.

And indeed, we should always be donating to this campaign. I've been donating to Ron's campaigns since 2007, just fyi, you can check my stats. I'm no Johnny-come-lately. ;-)

No way. I don't trust that he could deliver it clearly in a live telecast. It needs to be prepared and recorded and edited, as needed. Something this expensive cannot be done off the cuff. There has been way too much of that, already.

I'd rather see this put into specifically targetted voter blocks, the content tailored to those targets, and run at times/cable/radio channels specifically targetted for the content.

I should've clarified, those are my thoughts as well. It should NOT BE AN INTERVIEW - these people are snakes. It SHOULD NOT BE LIVE - let Ron Paul prepare his speech and deliver the Mother of all foreign policy speeches! Once it's aired it can be rebroadcast over and over and over again online. FOR FREE.

Agreed, it should definitely be recorded and aired

The last time a presidential candidate bought this much continuous airtime was in October 1992, when Ross Perot paid $380,000 to purchase 30 minutes on CBS. During his half-hour block, Perot used charts and other visual aids to make his case.

How much is $380,000 1992 dollars in 2011 federal reserve notes?

And again, this idea is also NOT a general "Hey I'm Ron Paul, here are some of my ideas." It would be SPECIFICALLY about foreign policy, per the original link from Lewrockwell.com that I posted at the beginning of this thread. A 15 minute, prepared speech on Foreign Policy. Period. Coast to coast, 15 minutes prime time. Boom! There are other factors at play, other things he could talk about but this subject covers the most ground from civil liberties to jobs to the economy to domestic policy, etc. Targeted ads at specific groups would get even more expensive and more complicated. KEEP IT SIMPLE. MAKE IT DIRECT. Speak directly to the American people as they should hear it!

Is there a connection to the official campaign on here? I have to assume that they've at least considered this already if it was on Lewrockwell.com They are all old friends over there. Getting in touch with them and hammering home this idea is step number one: a pre-recorded, prime time, 15 minute Ron Paul broadcast on Foreign Policy. Nothing else.

What do you think about Ron's Campaign for Liberty updates? Riveting?

Only the subject matter.

What the campaign needs is a 15 minute docudrama on Ron similar to the Avaroth and 3Liberty videos with citations and clips etc. Not Ron staring into a camera and speaking self consciously, imho.

More this:

Less this:

Jesse Benton just emailed asking for $150,000 to keep the Trust ad running over the weekend, so we need to contribute one way or another, and we need to do it now. But I think we NEED to buy some time for Ron Paul on National TV to give a real policy address to clear up all the confusions once and for all, a pre-recorded message where Ron would look calm and Presidential doing it.

then he needs to be speaking to someone. Doug Wead, Jack Hunter, whomever. He does NOT come off just speaking to the camera. He animates to people, only.

Would they even sell a 15 minute prime time slot? I doubt it. Probably gonna have to go with 30 minutes. And why foreign policy only? Gotta get sound money and social security in there. Let Seniors know how and where they are getting ripped off.

but I agree social security and medicare transition is KEY. look at those over 55 numbers....

Which is why it needs to be addressed. Seniors are a huge voting block. Gonna need their vote if we want Ron to win.

Thats why he said "We don't need to eliminate entitlements overnight, bring the troops home and save the money" he needs to keep saying that over and over and over again. Then whenever asked about FEMA, he needs to say bring the national guard home and let them help the people, not some gov't ran slush fund of "insurance." He's said it before and should keep saying it when asked on those issues.
