Check out the link. I think it's a wonderful idea.

Forget the 'Debates'
Posted on September 8, 2011 by Lew Rockwell
Writes Dom Armentano:

"This is a crucial time in the Ron Paul candidacy. The MSM and the so-called debates are marginalizing Ron's message. Non-interventionism in the economy and in foreign affairs cannot be explained convincingly in debates with statists or in a 20 second sound-bite response to some idiot from NBC. In my view Ron must go AROUND the MSM/debate format and speak directly to the American people. He needs a "game changer" and this could be it.

"My suggestion: Ron should buy time (say 15 minutes) on a national tv network and deliver a major foreign policy address. This would allow him to logically lay out his (our) non-interventionist position and call for an end to all foreign wars. After all, this is the one issue that distinguishes Ron from the other Republicans and, obviously, from the White House. Moreover, the public is entirely fed up with the wars and will (in my view) support a candidate who makes a solid moral and economic case for "bringing the troops home." I am aware that Ron has repeatedly made the argument I suggest; BUT it has been made in regional campaign speeches (this is a national issue with strong Independent support) or in these idiot debates where the message is fractured or ridiculed. Right message but wrong forum or medium. This can be corrected with a nationally televised talk."

He would have ample time to really hone this message, and not be interrupted by ratings driven, neocon/statist news goons. Bring the information directly to the people. Let them hear it, many of them for the first time ever. A possible game changer indeed!!

bump. We need to focus our efforts on educating others and If he could educate people on tv people would be more informed when Ron speaks at the debates. There is a huge knowledge gap between the way Ron speaks and the public understanding. Tom Woods needs to go out on a educational tour giving lectures all over the country

Do you know how much that would cost? If you want to happen you better start donating to the campaign!

I absolutely agree with this. This has to happen. No biased media moderators or interviewers distorting Ron's position. No rushed answers, but rather simple to understand, clear, and precise answers to the top issues facing the nation. Have a jobs plan (which is basicly getting the government boot off the necks of businesses). Explain fixng social security, sound money, inflation ect....

This could work.

How much would that cost? Maybe we can have a seperate money bomb to do this?

I'd be down for it. I think it would be awesome.

If the campaign is willing to do it I'm sure we will make it happen. All we need is the word. And the timing needs to be on point. Perhaps a week or two before the Iowa caucuses.

YES YES YES. It's easy for the already converted to get frustrated when people don't understand. The knowledge gap for most of them must be immense. I say this as a guy who (I'm 35 now) years ago was a self identified far left liberal. Over 15 years or so, you start to read Ayn Rand perhaps, then maybe Henry Hazlitt, F.A. Hayek, Frederic Bastiat, ... then you go back and re-read Thomas Jefferson, Patrick Henry and the like. A mind changed by new ideas can never regain it's old form. I learned new things, compared them against what I thought I knew, and I realized I was wrong. Again, this was years ago, but still. Information on Liberty MUST be shared whenever possible.

Where are you suggesting he buy TV time from? Is it even a possibility to get time on a major network when people would actually be watching? (Primetime would be just about impossible..)

Air it in Iowa and NH, take a poll, see response, and act accordingly.

I would be insanely expensive to air it nationally.

I'm not necessarily against this idea or anything, but the first thing that popped into my head while reading this was....

Subvert the MSM by giving them how much money, exactly? :o

Well, I don't know how accurate this is, but I found this info, and a lot of other sites seemed to echo the same thing:
http://www.ehow.com/info_7774979_much-television-advertising-really-cost.html

Would likely be cheaper if it was just Ron and production levels would not need to be what they might be for a serious commercial advertisement. Not to say it should look cheap, just pointing out that we aren't selling a commercial product that would need tons of production and graphics, etc.

It would be Ron, in a room sitting or standing, addressing America through the camera. Could be anywhere from 10.5 million, to half of that or perhaps less? Not cheap, that's for sure. But I think we could raise a good chunk of change for a well thought out television ad.

And indeed, we should always be donating to this campaign. I've been donating to Ron's campaigns since 2007, just fyi, you can check my stats. I'm no Johnny-come-lately. ;-)

I think organizing a money bomb around this idea is a fantastic idea. It's the perfect way for people to vent their frustrations with the debate system.

The key will be making sure that the word gets out and enough people tune in. The debates are obviously hugely played up by the media and must get pretty decent ratings... how could we capture a large audience like that... Maybe make it a one-on-one with a reputable supporter, like Kavuto or someone like that.

I can already imagine the youtube trailers people could make showing media bias and blatant ignoring of Dr. Paul, followed by "nothing can stop an idea whose time has come".

It would be cheaper on a cable network than the big 3. I'm guessing it would cost them a couple million for a half hour on Fox News or CNN. Also it would be cheaper depending on the time it is shown. They spent six figures to show that Perry cheerleader commercial twice in primetime during the debates.

Understood for sure. But by "subversion" I don't mean screwing them over monetarily. I mean specifically, subverting their stranglehold on his message. They would have to shut up for 15 solid minutes and let the man speak.

And at the end of the day, this is just an idea I'm sharing, not one I came up with. I do think it's great though.
