Ron Paul blimp needs $70000 by tomorrow!

BTW, if the Bliimp is such a bad advertising idea, why has Goodyear and Fujii used blimps for advertising their products for DECADES?

It's all about associations. The blimp is now associated with Ron Paul and that alone is a positive message.

People will Google Ron Paul and get ALL the detailed OBJECTIVE info they want to get. This is MUCH better than TV.

Because they can afford to divert a small portion of their funding for a novelty. We can't.

Nobody is PROFITING from the blimp.

I just heard Blimpette on JustinTV saying that she's losing weight and working lots lots of hours for the blimp. (for next to nothing)
http://www.justin.tv/blimpette

Wait till you see the SC results. Normally that state should have been pretty bad for Ron Paul. If he pulls a 10%, you can credit the blimp.

If he gets 4%, then the blimp didnt' work
.

I have yet to see scientific statistics showing how many votes so far have been because of the blimp. How about spending money on local SC efforts for ads and canvassing, where people will actually SEE/HEAR HIS MESSAGE AND NOT JUST HIS NAME.

Credit the blimp? If he pulls 10% you can't say it was because of the blimp! There are a ton of people canvassing and meetup groups spending money on local ads, etc. Sheesh.

If this really isn't about profit, and someone has lost weight because of hard work, thank you for your efforts. I just don't think a blimp in the sky is doing anything, like I said Romney would be doing it if was.

If SC does well (8-10%), then we definitely need the blimp for Florida and the superbowl. We can fly within 3 miles and it's VERY visible.

BTW, Guiliani is losing Florida to McCain. He's also doing bad in NY and NJ.

This campaign is in such flux that people are changing their minds all the time.

Once you're with Ron Paul, you never go back. I never met a defector yet.

We can still canvass by the thousands, while the blimp is doing it's work. It does not cost money to canvass (at least the way I'm doing it). I do it to exercise!

With all of that millions of advertising the blimp has gotten in SC, he'd better get at least 20% ! Otherwise it is no longer a sound investment.

It's difficult / impossible to isolate the advertising from the blimp, but we could check back the flight path and the voting percentage in each associated precinct.

You can volunteer for that job if you want.

YOU HAVE GOT TO BE KIDDING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! This is the most ridiculous stuff I have read on the forum so far!! Just how many people in the US know RP is associated with a blimp? Of all those people, how many people have said they are going to vote for him because of it? A blimp does not get people to vote for someone, the message, ground forces, and speaking with RP in person does!

Are you on the blimp crew or something? The Super Bowl is in PHOENIX in a DOME! Seriously, you sound like you have a personal stake in the blimp and just throw out whatever sounds good.

It's not my project, and not my job to prove!!!!!

The blimp idea has been argued over for literally tens of thousands (maybe hundreds of thousands) of posts over the last month and a half, and it seems to not be stopping. Every argument, both pro and con, has been presented at least 500 times each. There are many people both for and against, and many people who seem to change their minds about it occasionally.

So let me make this very simple. If you don't like the blimp, SHUT THE FUCK UP AND GO AWAY. There's not a single argument you can make that hasn't been made already! What the fuck are you wasting your time here for? Go.... the fuck.... away.

If you like the blimp, then post here when you've donated.

That's it. That's all this thread is for. It's really simple. If you guys are smarter than rocks, you'll be able to abide by these simple guidelines.

I am not associated with the blimp at all. I live in California but donated to the blimp.

I want a promise that the blimp will fly through the midwest and out to the west coast. The blimp has stayed concentrated in one little region this entire time.

The blimp normally SHOULD get huge media attention and that would NORMALLY create a lot free advertising as it is shown on TV, nationwide. There has been some coverage, but very little. Apparently there has been some good TV coverage in SC.

The blimp is also NOT CENSORABLE!!

Just imagine if Obama or Hillary had a blimp, the MSM in UNISON would be raving at Hillary's genius DAILY.

Both Hillary and Obama each have $100,000,000 to work with. We have to be creative with $20 mil and if that means spending $1 mil on the blimp, I think it's fine.

"I want a promise that the blimp will fly through the midwest and out to the west coast."

The blimp flies at 30 mph and going west, that's aginst a headwind. It would take WEEKS to get there.

Next elections, when Ron Paul goes for a second term, we'll have 2 blimps!

Are you serious!?! The Blimp has gotten TONS of local coverage and has created a buzz wherever it's been. A couple of people even got baby blimps for their yards and THOSE got media coverage. One in Charlottesville, VA got a front page glossy photo on a local mag with a great story.

That local coverage is very valuable!

Indeed. Local coverage is the very best coverage out there. Afterall, that is how they won Jefferson County in Iowa.

I've got a media tracker tracking going on that tracks all the media linked on news.google.com, adds in (manually) TV mentions found on YouTube, and calculates a value of it. The value is admittedly a very rough guess, but I think it's pretty conservative. Here's what I currently show for the media value of the news that the Blimp has generated:

---- Media Reports ----
237 total media reports
Of those,
7 were TV
132 were non-TV major media
98 were blogs or internet mentions

---- Sources ----
124 total separate media sources
Of those,
were TV
83 were non-TV major media
40 were blogs or internet sources
1 were of unknown type

---- Estimated Value ----
Using an estimated average major media value of 2500
and an estimated blog mention value of 100,
and an estimated cost of 2400 for a 30 second prime-time ad
(600 for non-prime-time)
Estimated TV media value: 39100
Estimated non-TV major media value: 330000
Estimated blog media value: 9800
Estimated total media value: 378900

So far the Blimp has generated considerably more media than we could have bought by spending the same amount of money on straight ads. Plus, the Blimp and Tea Party together made a very compelling story and helped Tea Party press (which was ridiculously valuable). And note that this doesn't count the actual advertising impressions of the Blimp itself, which is a flying billboard and has serious value even if it didn't get any media at all.

We basically get a media discount for flying the Blimp, plus the value of everyone actually seeing it.

The Blimp is killer. Lots of people from other campaigns will post here trying to get us to stop flying it after a month and saying it's not working. They're totally, utterly wrong. Fly the Blimp!

Blimp On

Some people are on the blimp gravy train and some people are worshiping a cult of personality.

Whoever says give $70,000 to a bag off hot air instead of paying for thousands of ads is suspect.

There's no way in the world the blimp is seen by more people than those many hours of TV commercials.

And it's brings NOTHING to the campaign except a played out novelty.

How many more percentage points would we have had in NH if we had $500,000 more to spend on boots on the ground and ads???

It's a WASTE people. It's cost us a world of a lot more than it's been worth!

The Blimp IS an AD. Try and buy "thousands of ads", as you suggest, for 70,000.00

What channel would those ads be on? What newspapers could you find at that price?

The Blimp clearly has generated a ton of publicity...BLIMP ON!
