Ron Paul at UT AustinShare
8:55pm Today

As the establishment and media’s pick for the Republican nomination faces mounting problems with the FEC and his questionable relationships with lobbyists, challenger Ron Paul keeps drawing big crowds, including 4,000 students at supporters at the University of Texas at Austin earlier today. The fight for the future of the Republican Party, and the future of the country, is still very much on. Here’s our release on the UT rally, and keep the momentum going by canvassing your neighborhood or making calls to states with upcoming battles through our Precinct Leaders program.

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

February 23, 2008

AUSTIN, TEXAS – Today, Republican presidential candidate and Texas Congressman Ron Paul addressed a large crowd of students and supporters on the main mall of the University of Texas in Austin. University of Texas campus police estimate that a crowd of 4,000 people attended the event.

“Dr. Paul’s conservative message of low taxes, limited government and strictly following the Constitution resonates with voters here in his home state of Texas,” said Ron Paul campaign chairman Kent Snyder.

Blues guitarist and singer Jimmie Vaughan played for the crowd before Dr. Paul spoke. In Vaughan’s endorsement of Dr. Paul, the guitarist and singer said “he knows the Constitution and the Bill of Rights, and he always votes for the Constitution.”

Yes, twas a fabulous time -- and Dr. Paul's speech was great!

For what it's worth.. campus police told me their estimate of the crowd was 5,000 :) (Wonder if the math went fuzzy somewhere.. lol)

Chris Robertson and the Students for Ron Paul group did an excellent job!

I was there. I brought a coworker and we had a blast! The music was great and this was my first time to see Dr. Paul in person.

it was truly a sight to see.

i shook my hero's hand today.

i just watched the local news for temple and another on Waco and they reported on the rally in Killeen this morning... don't get austin channels so haven't seen anything there

I was there too. It was awesome! Dr. Paul arrived in his minivan with a full on biker motorcade and the crowd went wild! The speech was amazing too. The basic jist...
1.) THE PRESIDENTIAL CAMPAIGN WILL GO ON AS LONG AS WE WANT.
B.) THE MOVEMENT MUST CONTINUE AT ALL COSTS REGARDLESS OF THE OUTCOME OF THE ELECTION.

I had a great day! Met Ron Paul in Killeen and then went down to Austin to watch his rally there. Hope you guys enjoy some of these pics.

If you are coming into this thread to seek the YouTube or talk about how awesome the rally was, please take a few minutes to donate to the Texas Grassroots Ron Paul campaign that is fighting essentially all of the fight for Texas.

http://ocati.chipin.com/liberty-for-texas

The money goes to Operation Come And Take It (OCATI) through Texans Organized to Protect the Integrity of the Constitution (TOPIC).

If you haven't seen the justin.tv video of the event yet, it can be found at http://www.justin.tv/ronpaultv/71976. This ought to tide you over until the youtubes surface. If you do watch, please consider tossing a $10 donation to the Operation Come And Take It ChipIn as a token of dedication.

Last, but definitely not least, are you a Precinct Leader yet? Texas only has 17% of its precincts covered at last reference, so please take a few minutes to sign up at https://voters.ronpaul2008.com/grassroots/. Once you are into the program, you'll receive some materials to get work through over the next 10 or so days working up to the primary. One member of the forums posted a thread today about how in just 4 hrs he reached 1000 voters and identified a number of people who can each help spread the message of liberty. It is just so simple.

CONGRESSMAN PAUL WILL NOT DO WELL IN TEXAS UNLESS YOU HELP.
