Ron Paul and Border Security

During the New Hampshire interview video on the teaparty07.com site, Dr. Paul says that he does NOT support building a fence on the border or "militarizing" the border. Only that he supports more border patrol agents. Doesn't this contradict his website that says we should physically secure the border doing "whatever it takes?"

Actually, I don't really care how we secure the border, I just want it done ASAP. But it seems like hiring more border patrol agents is a slow way of doing it while bringing the army back from Iraq and putting it on the border would be a faster way of doing it.

It doesn't seem like any of the candidates want the military on the border. But doesn't it say in the Consitution that the national guard is to protect the borders?

I'm thinking that the reason nobody supports it is because it might be provocative to mexico?

Regardless, I'm convinced that Ron Paul, no matter how he does it, will be the only one that will actually secure the borders...I don't believe the other candidates. Ron Paul is really the only one who I trust will do what he says.

As far as his anti illegal immigration policies go , he believes cutting the incentives for illegals ,such as amnesty , healthcare etc , would go further to fixing the problem than a fence.

One of the greatest concerns with a border fence is eminent domain claims. They're going to rip land away in some cases from people who have owned it for decades and essentially uproot them or force them to live with looking at a giant fence in their backyard the rest of their lives.

Cut the welfare state, cut the incentives, and strengthen the border patrol.

No, Nowhere, Not at all.
Dr.Paul's position is that the military should defend America, but that does not mean sitting on the border.
He is for securing points of entry.
He is also for stopping the incentives ,Welfare, Free health care, and free ride that attracts many.

Building a fence wouldn't make the border safer... it'd just make more job openings in the Mexican ladder market.

Ron Paul would secure the border without using eminent domain, in a sensible way.

He said he voted for the bill that included building the fence, but not because of the border fence.

seems that some don't really know Ron Paul's stances.

"In" Ron Paul's eyes the military is different than the National Guard.

The National Guard is attributed to each state. In Ron Paul's mind, I believe, is that border patrol agents + national guard (which also includes an airforce) are what he would agree with and support.

He doesn't believe the miliatry should be on the border because its not their job to "police", there job is to kill. A good example is how the miliary is dealing with things in Iraq. They are asked to "police", but they are failing, and is outside the scope of their job. They are military, they win wars, they don't police.

There are numerous videos that show Ron Paul supporting the National Guard on the border with the border patrol.
