Paul’s willingness to stand up for what he believes in when it comes to U.S. involvement in foreign countries hurt him repeatedly in Monday’s debate.

The conservative Republican electorate in South Carolina booed Paul’s answers on foreign policy and Texas Gov. Rick Perry even suggested that a gong should have been used to cut Paul off.

Perry wasn't even targeting Paul, just making a joke about the timer! Good grief. Does every article have to be a hit piece? This is at least the second one by the ABCNEWS correspondent, Jason Volack, in the last 24 hours. (The other one was the "backup strategy" piece.)

Have you ever seen "The Gong Show"? When an act is so utterly horrible that they want it to end immediately they hit a giant Gong. I'm not positive that is the way Governor Perry meant it but it did seem that he had issue with more than the timer.

It obviously seems like a gong show reference to me.

I'd more rate it all as a hit piece on the electorate, instead of Paul. Self-proclaimed Christians booing the Golden Rule has shown exactly how far this country has fallen. A lot of these people are simply deluded nearly beyond recovery, and these mob displays only reinforce their bloodlust. They will act this way until they are dragged to reason, or dragged to their own downfall. And then what will they do? They will riot.

It was obviously a Gong Show reference.

I thought it was pretty classless and would have no matter who said it.

Yeh, google "gong show". That was perry's reference. It was brutal, and sharp.

Yeah, but I saw somebody far more important than me tweet "Perry should actually be very glad there's no gong in these debates."

Wow now I feel old, I'm guessing probably a lot of people on this forum has never seen the gong show.

Perry should have been gonged before he stepped on the stage due to low poll numbers.

I think Perry was just joking and didn't even mean it toward Paul, just referring to the debate in general.

Perry was definitely implying a gong should of went off on Ron Paul's foreign policy answer. Perry is desperate and has attempted to gain favor with the blood thirsty sheeple. Much like his "we should send our troops back into Iraq line from NH debate.
