Ron Paul accused of creationism on front page of Reddit

They fail to understand that his religious beliefs do not effect his action's in Congress.

I'm a Christian, and even a creationist, but I would happily vote an atheist into office. I wish I could say the same (albeit vice versa) was true for more atheists.

What is wrong with liberals that someone can't profess a personal spiritual belief without offending their delicate psyches?

I'm an agnostic who supports Paul because he understands the proper role of government.

According to this poll, 33.33% RPF members are atheists/agnostics, and 43.8% of us are either atheist, agnostic, or "non-religious." I fall into the first category, and I disagree with Ron Paul's rejection of evolution and his "war on christmas" article. But as you mentioned, Ron Paul refuses to legislate morality, which is why his religion is of little concern to me.

Funny how things look depending on which side of the fence you stand.

I have an idea - maybe we could stop stereotyping people?

People are so accustomed to a politician lying to them that they are appropriately suspicious of hidden agendas, ulterior motives, etc. People fear that the politician will force his own personal moral beliefs down their throats. Luckily Ron Paul breaks the mold.

I made it very clear that not all atheists or agnostics act like some of the liberals on reddit, because I said that I wished more atheists paid no regard to religion. I also wish more Christians and other religious folks would open their minds and explore the possibility of electing an atheist into office, given that his or her beliefs do not effect policy making decisions.

Ron Paul's campaign is the perfect example that there are people with such open-mindedness out there. I was simply stating that I wish there were more people like us. :)

** Rally the good Christian troops to support him!!!! **
Where are all those fine evangelical Palin supporters when a good Christian politician is getting attacked?

.... oh, the irony.

not all Christians are douche bags, some are respectful of the religious freedoms that every American citizen enjoys, as outlined in the 1st Amendment. Some of them can even leave their religious beliefs at home, and do the job they are expected to do, without puking bible quotes all over the place. Too bad they can't all be like that. people might actually open up to Christians and Christianity.

Since when was Ron Paul a creationist? I've never heard him say or write that. When the candidates were asked during a debate if they did not believe in evolution he didn't raise his hand.

Because he didn't think the question was appropriate.
Ron Paul: "It's a theory and I don't accept it"
YouTube - Ron Paul: I don't believe in evolution

He's right, though. It's not politically relevant if it doesn't affect his decisions in congress.

Ron Paul doesn't reject evolution. He doesn't believe or disbelieve in it, which is scitifically accurate.

By the way, creationism refers to belief in God and has virtually nothing to do with evolution. Typical confusion though.

cre⋅a⋅tion⋅ism [kree-ey-shuh-niz-uhm]
the doctrine that matter and all things were created, substantially as they now exist, by an omnipotent Creator, and not gradually evolved or developed.

Gotcha ;)

Unfortunately being openly atheist is political suicide. It's to bad it is that way.

.

This. His record speaks for itself.

He or any politician could worship Santa Claus for all I care as long as they follow the Constitution.
