This really got me mad. This guy thinks protesting and marches promote LESS democracy. He basically says we need a United States where the government controls people to keep these things from happening, because that's REAL democracy. Is he kidding, stupid or just crazy?

Opinions: Ron Paul: a patriot or a nightmare?

I don't just think that the Ron Paul movement is silly. I find it troubling. The fact that a far-right movement can exist on a college campus, complete with demonstrations and graffiti, is what worries me.

It means that the people who are most motivated to have their ideas heard are anti-egalitarians who flaunt their message beneath a banner of freedom. Although they're a minority, this group meets no resistance in promoting an ideology that, when executed around the globe, has been the greatest rival of democracy and resulted in the most tyrannical regimes in the past half century.

...The ideology is rock-hard and ruthlessly self-contained (and self-perpetuating). The Friedmanite insistence that poor people are too ignorant of the economy to effectively decide what ought to be done brings Paul's supporters more in line with the stubborn anti-democracy of Lenin than the florid idealism of Martin Luther King Jr. or Emma Goldman...

...I think it would be appropriate here to mention a few reasons why I personally hate Ron Paul so much. It's because I hate freedom. I really do. I hate the Constitution as well. But Ron Paul sure loves them. Boy, does he ever love freedom and the Constitution. Just ask one of his supporters. Did you know he delivered 4,000 babies? Dennis Kucinich doesn't come close...

It goes on, and gets worse. You can read the full article here: http://www.asuwebdevil.com/issues/2008/02/04/opinions/703418

You can email this idiot at: [email protected]

Awful. A bunch of angry, ignorant, empty rhetoric without a single coherent argument. Insinuation and accusation without evidence. Conservative this, far-right that. And did he actually call Paul supporters "anti-egalitarian" only to later say that we're more in line with Lenin? The boy is confused. It's just another example of why we need to get the federal government out of the business of education.

Both.

A true patriot is a nightmare to Kevin King and people who think like him.

Full disclosure: I'm a Huckabee supporter.

Full opinion: This article is ridiculous, makes absolutely no sense, and causes the author to look a lot worse than any conservative he's trying to caricature.

I really can't even figure out what the guy means to say...

Now you see what Ron Paul has been facing for months.

When they're not ignoring him, they're lying about his positions.

Someone needs to explain to this guy that coercion is evil. Using government agents to forcibly redistribute wealth is evil.

The greatest carers of the poor in history: Jesus, Gandhi, Buddah, Mother Theresa, etc, NONE of them used government coercion to tax people to pay for social programs.

Those who use government force against the citizenry under the pretense of collecting resources from the rich to give to the poor are evil: Lenin, Stalin, Mao, Kim Jong-il, etc

This guy is an evil charlatan and inciter of violence.

Actually, I've seen that the whole time. It's the same thing Mike has been facing since he started. I can't vote for your candidate in good conscience, but I can recognize unfair media treatment of him when I see it.

However, I must say I don't see any ignoring *or* lying in this particular piece. Although it rambles so hopelessly that there might be some lies that snuck by without me noticing them.

Obvious this person is not a free thinker, but a product of societal brain washing.

We are not a Democracy! Never have been anything but a Constitutional Republic!

Democracy = majority rule!

That is not freedom!

Nuff said.

Ron Paul, the chosen one... the messenger of Freedom!

Viva Ron Paul!

Welcome to the forum. Thanks for the disclosure, it's nice to see so many Huckabee supporters appearing in the Paul Hive. We have a lot more in common than most will admit. :)

Is this guy for real? When he said that he hated freedom it made me wonder. Maybe the terrorists do come here because they hate freedom!

I suppose this guy thinks the best way to promote democracy, which he allegedly hates, is to promote it through the barrel of a gun.

Not all Ron Paul supporters are like that. But, to his defense, many of you here on these forums are that insane. Sorry. You really don't give two shits about democracy. or the political process, especially on issues concerning other people's freedoms (abortion, religion, ethnicity, race).

I don't understand his against freedom or the Constitution bid... he didn't qualify that with a response, and therefore can be rejected solely on his inability to consider that he sounds batshit.

I can't even decide if that guy is serious or trying to be satirical like Colbert or something...I used to think that no one could truly be that stupid.

Governor Huckabee had his media coverage leading up to and following his victory in Iowa, and still gets mentioned more than Ron Paul does as I've seen numerous stories lately that talk about him, Romney, and McCain.

He does seem to be a more polished public speaker than Ron Paul, and I do appreciate the fact that he has changed his positions/talking points to more closely match those that Ron Paul has championed for the past 30 years.

Then he must be a terrorist right? they hate our freedoms.....

Fema! take over! here is one of the terrorists!

Hehehehe...

Kade was banned?
I guess he didn't need to be banned. Just warn him about the language. He for sure
doesn't understand what Ron Paul or this movement is all about. We are not about
removing or granting rights. We are not specifically pro abortion or anti-abortion. We
are about getting the federal government out of the business of granting or curtailing
our rights and liberties. With few exception the federal government has no business
legally or morally to act in this way. When it does that's Marxist and Communistic
and we as Americans reject those notions. Well all of us except those currently
running for the presidency - With the exception of Ron Paul of course. And that's
why the vast majority of us are here and that's why there is such an extremely
diverse crowd supporting this campaign.

Ron Paul's foreign policy, monetary policies, and his personal feelings about abortion,
gays in the military, same-sex marriage, are extremely minor aspects of this campaign.

Well, his monetary policies actually go hand in hand with getting government out of
our personal lives and liberties because the Federal Reserve Bank and how it works is
what fund these kooks who wish to control our lives. His foreign policies only matter
as to how they relate to the United Nations (UN), Council on Foreign Relations (CFR),
and other global government promoting entities.

His stance on abortion and etc. so far have only reflected his position of getting the
federal government out of the law making and law enforcement business. As the
Constitution and Bill of Rights state almost all of that is a State issue and those laws
and enforcement policies need to come from the local level - and for good reason.

Your local cop-shop and community law-makers will have a MUCH better idea of what's
going on in that community and what the best remedies for that community are. When
the federal government gets into the picture they apply the same laws and enforcements
to a Wyoming ranching community as they do a inner city slum in New York City which
of course is just nuts. So roughly speaking Ron Paul doesn't want to change the usual
laws that apply to us... He wants to move the jurisdiction from federal to local - and
that's a GREAT thing! Local I can deal with - I'm part of that community and have a
voice. With federal my only recourse is to arm myself and make one of those famous
last stands - or become a billionaire - and I don't want either of those things for myself.

Regarding your article on Opinions: Ron Paul: a patriot or a nightmare?

You come across as merely another sheep 'baaaaaaaaaaing' for the machine. Keep embracing the Empire and the hundreds of billions of dollars we spend overseas, keep paying into your Social Security while the gov takes it and uses it, keep embracing the IRS and its raping of our dollars, keep supporting the welfare state and every other government involvement in our life andon and on and on.

There are two kinds of people in this world, those that can be told what to do and when to wipe their ass and those who cannot. It's obvious which side you fall on. But considering you write for an online college 'paper', perhaps we should wait until you get out in the real world where'll you'll hopefully be able to see the bigger picture.

This country is headed towards economic collapse and borders on socialism everytime the government puts another program for the people in place. Use your head. Consider your alternatives with MCWar, Hillary or Obama in office; isn't pretty is it ? You are the typical person who thinks they are living in a free society while the government lies and uses your money for their own agenda.

You're an idiot. Simply stated.

You are not from American are you? If, you are and don't like the freedom you have here, then you are free to leave, unless of course you are writing from prison. Anyway, each President in the United States swears an "Oath of Office". In that oath they agree to uphold the Constitution of the United States. President Bush has done far more to erode those freedoms than any other President. If, you don't believe me then read "The Patriot Act".

America is at war and war is not fought by lining up the red coats against the opposing army. War has evolved. It is about chemical, biological, and radiological weapons. The worst part of the war is psychological warfare, psyops. War is not won with guns, it is won in the heads of your enemies, "Winning the hearts and minds".

Freedom was what this country was built on. The idea of freedom was so strong that people were willing to die to be free. It is a shame that the freedom that your ancestors died for should be given away in the name of safety.
