Ron on the View this morning

The good news out of it is that women really associate with the fact that he is an OBGYN.

He should be faster to explain that he's delivered over 4,000 babies. At least to me, it makes his view more palatable to me when people are trying to corner him about abortion.

Also, he seriously needs to have a better comeback when people tell him he can't win. Wtf? He has more grassroots support than any other candidate. After the tea party, he'll probably easily own the largest single day of donations by anyone, ever. Instead of looking sad when these naysayers say he won't win, he needs to emphasize some things that are undoubtedly positive. He can talk all day about in-depth topics, but he needs to get some easy rebuttals worked out. Anyone who says that to him should be swatted down, tactfully or otherwise.

Maybe part of the problem is that he keeps expecting people to start treating him fairly. If they won't, he needs to do a better job of dealing with it.

I thought the interview was not bad. Ron's answer to the canned statement "your not gonna win, so what are you doing?" was MUCH improved. I like it, in fact.

The questions on China were good. He is likely to face them again at some point. I did like what he had to say about improving our economy. I did not like what he said about having too many restrictions here---because I do not know which ones he means. OSHA? Environment? That needs work. I think I know what he means, especially in regards to having a strong currency but trade negotiations are complex. What specific trade policies would Ron Paul propose to level the playing field? I get the part about lowering taxes boosting business......is that enough and is that all? What about Chinese currency manipulation and its investment in US debt? Not sure I fully understand where he stands on these issues and if Whoopi got me thinking should Dr Paul face a Dem in the general he might have his hands full on this issue.

Joy Behar likes Ron's ideas. Like what, a massive restructuring of the welfare state, entitlement programs, and federal gov't revenue streams (i.e. the progressive tax system)? Hilarious.

I liked the other three slapping Joy down for saying that he couldn't win. I loved his straight answers to all of their questions. I wish that Joy weren't so obsessed with abortion, but if it is a huge issue for the audience, then it was good for RP to get so much time to explain his views.

I actually enjoyed the interview; it was combative, yes, but he's a big boy and they respected him for standing up to them.

As much as I like Ron, I've got to admit this was terrible. He's got to be on his toes in these interviews. He should have known what was coming, and have had his words in mind. I was disappointed, I can't believe I sat through all that bs to see 5 min or less of RP. I hope this is a lesson learned, never let your guard down, always be ready to defend yourself.

I disagree completely. I just got done watching it (I had it dvr'd) and as a female who has *hangs head in shame* watched the View in the past, I think they were quite fair to him and I think he probably scored points with the women at home during this time of day. I wish they would have discussed homeschooling but I'm not disappointed with the interview at all.
I'd like to ditto this sentiment. I've never watched the View before this, I think it was quite interesting, RP seen from a different perspective than the usual politically driven news shows n stuff. And even tho they did go on about the abortion thing a bit long, I think they way he argued it was quite intriguing, I could visibly see Joy Behar's head swimming with new thoughts about abortion and she seemed a bit taken aback by what she was discovering. But that's just my observation. If RP can lead people to at least question their long held beliefs about different subjects, such as abortion, I think he can really open up some closed minds. That in itself would be awesome. RP's on his way to the White House, I just know it! :D

No people don't like defensive / aggressive politicians, especially democrats.

He answered well enough, and was genuine.

The only thing about the 'View' I didn't like was the amount of attention abortion keeps getting. It's not that I don't care....I just don't think it is worth the amount of time the media spends on it.

It's called a "wedge issue", and that's specifically why it gets so much time. It's a relatively inconsequential social interview that is used to split the public along artificial partisan lines. It's part of the Hegelian Dialect of: thesis + anti-thesis => synthesis , where "Government can regulate FOR..." and "Government can regulate AGAINST..." are the only proposed options, where the real issue of LIBERTY, and the THEFT of our liberties is the outcome of that "synthesis", with either case being "the Government can regulate..."

What?!?! This interview was perfectly fine! It was a bit short, so a bit of a wasted opportunity, but for the amount of time he had to explain his positions, I'm sure he actually got a LOT of women interested, if not converted.

He makes it OBVIOUS that Roe v. Wade is a complicated issue and overturning it is not some sort of evil triumph for the Republicans.

This interview was FINE. He did a good job on the abortion issue and even had the pro-choicers say, "that is interesting" when he pointed out that a fetus has rights, with "if I hurt the baby I am responsible".

By the end of it, they were almost ready to admit that Roe v. Wade was bad since it legalized abortion into the 3rd trimester.

Not only that but, 40% of woman are pro-life and 50% of married women are pro-life.

I wish he had more time though.

I'm glad they had him on for the exposure, but unfortunately they talked too much and he never had enough time to logically explain his positions. The China question could be an easy home run if there was about five to ten minutes to answer it but international trade theory isn't easy to explain in 1 and a half minutes.

The view is like the jerry springer show for fat people.

The view they push is to "waste your time and keep you in front of the tv, conditioned with their socialliy marxist rejectamenta" when you could be on the tread mill working out, getting a life. etc.

If Ron got through to just one of their zero education/sheeple viewers i'd be very surprised.

It's actually unfortunate that Rosie left because she would have taken up for Paul and discussed the War. This would have propelled Paul immensely in front of this audience.

I think the interview went, actually, very well, considering the target audience. RP is usually presented as a kook, fringe, extremist candidate, and this put him across as very human, likeable (grandfatherly), well-spoken, and genuine about the issues. Take it for what it's worth (which is what the normal audience will get out of it), not what *we* would like to see.

I also agree about the interview. I think that even though they harped on abortion for waaaay too long it was still a win. Ron got the message out, and was on national television with some very highly respected women in several different voting bloc communities.

Did anyone see what that one cohost said like midway at the end of when they where discussing abortion?

She was like meh meh meh at the local level or someplace you can't do it you you got to go from Arkensas to Timbuktu to get an abortion the she looks down in some condesending way going and you have to be pretty rich you have to be pretty wealth...WTF

First of all Timbuktu is not in the US. If someone needed an abortion it's not like they would have to go on a mystical journey. Also the rich part now she was just trying to be a bitch. In the incredibly odd event where a girl needed an abortion I dought it would cost a fourtune to drive to the next state and maybe mam the reason there are people like that in the first place(if they even exsist...I mean who can't drive over one state in a circumstance like that in the first place) is because, you are a party hack that knows nothing about economics or the federal researve, the income tax, the inflation tax, the devaluation of our currency, and our foreign policy in general cause,k you wan't your football team to win.

If we give all the power to the federal govt. .... well that's how you get the Bush Administration. We make laws at the state level all the time it isn't unusual and if you to dumb to realize why it's not good to have a gigantic central govt. with unparalled power go live in China.
