If any FReeper wants to send Rep. Ron Paul into retirement, please go to his able Republican Primary opponent, Chris Peden's website and donate as generously as you can.

* For full disclosure, I'm working on Chris' campaign. If you have questions about Chris' background or position on an issue that are not apparent on his website, FReep mail me and I'll try to get back to you with an answer or forward it on to Chris, if I can't answer it myself. I can assure you that Chris is solid on issues that most FReepers care deeply about. We are all working hard to unseat Rep. Ron Paul this Primary, as there is no Democrat that has filed. So our November is in March, less than a month away and we will be Paulbot free in TX CD 14.

Eevn though their are some intentional misquotes on the add, it atleast gets Pauls message out about being anti-war and pulling the troops out right now. that may work against this chris guy.

IMPORTANT: about Congressional race

I just read this on wonkette.com's coverage of RP's announcement:

"Ron Paul is a genius. He amassed a war chest of 30 million dollars, spent almost none of it, and now goes back to Congress. He can use that campaign money to guarantee his reelection to the House for the rest of his life, or probably even get himself a Senate seat. Genius, I tell you. 99% of those people would not have donated a single Amero to help he retain his seat in Congress or for a Senate run and he knew it. Now he's flush and sitting pretty."

This couldn't be true- could it?:(

No it could not be true. The Wonkette wrote it. The author of that story could be buried in a matchbox if you gave him an enema.

I don't think so. Not a dime of his money raised to secure the nomination can be used for his congressional race. I think he can use some/all of the money he raises for the general election campaign, but I don't think he's raising money for that yet.

ron spent almost all of it. a general rule of thumb is wonkette is about as trustworthy as your local drug dealer. i'm not sure why you're even on that site.

he cannot use any monies from the presidential campaign until he shuts it down and anything left over can then be used I think... but he's not doing this

we should let him know we dont appreciate this ...

In a victory for personal property rights, I voted to limit the city’s power of eminent domain to traditional uses and not for purely economic development reasons; in Texas a family’s home is their castle and it deserves to be protected from government bureaucrats.

umm... Still pro-taking peoples houses away... for ANY reason this is wrong. there is no good reason... time for the "Peden steals your home" smear campaign

that could actually sway the vote. it's a parimary fight though, and frankly, if it was GE time, I would recommend we have some people MOVE THERE and vote against.

Personally, I'm excited at the opportunity for Ron to demonstrate the power of the distributed machine ;) that's been put into place for his presidential run. He's strongly indicated that he has more projects in store for this machine. :) I'm lovin' it.
