Ron and Rand Paul Whistle-Stop Tour Kickoff Yields Big Turnout

Closing argument tour attracts hundreds of voters

ANKENY, Iowa – 2012 Presidential candidate Ron Paul’s whistle-stop tour of Iowa, done today in concert with his son U.S. Senator Rand Paul (R-KY), yielded uncharacteristically-large crowds often numbering in the hundreds.

The Polk County Whistle Stop in Downtown Des Moines attracted more than 700 supporters, the Scott County Whistle Stop held in Davenport drew more than 350 people, and the Linn County Whistle Stop held in Cedar Rapids yielded more than 300 people.

In addition, the Black Hawk County Whistle Stop in Cedar Falls drew more than 300 supporters, and the Cerro Gordo County Whistle Stop in Mason City attracted more than 200 voters.

“The excitement is palpable as Ron and Rand Paul make Ron’s closing arguments to the hundreds of supporters who braved the cold, windy weather to see the Pauls. We hope this level of energy, so unique to Ron Paul’s candidacy, propels us to a strong top-three finish in tomorrow’s caucus,” said Ron Paul 2012 Iowa Chairman Drew Ivers.

That's not very encouraging. Paul said to Politico a day or two ago that he expects a top-two finish, and now it's been downgraded to top-three?

Romney openly talking about winning, while Paul's Iowa campaign is talking about "top-three" is depressing.

We have always talked about a top 3 finish, downplaying expectations is key.

This is great, but it's not all rosy. I heard that many of the people who show up to Ron paul's rallies are not even iowans. IF this is true, then we may be overestimating the actual support...

This is what I worry about.

Where did you hear this blatant lie?

What's interesting is that i hadn't heard claims like that until today. I remember in articles before saying that almost all iowan tags in parking lots for paul events.

lol at the negative nancys. I couldn't imagine living life in your shoes. Life must suck for some of you. :X

7824 people voted in Linn County with Romney taking 31%. So this is 2425 people who voted for Romney there.

I came to Mason City from Minnesota today, however i did not notice any other MN license plates in the parking lot.

The thing that worries me, is that I keep hearing that a lot of these people are out of state people...."I traveled from Kentucky...from New Mexico...from California...from Texas...Illinois/Minnesota/Missouri/Wisconsin/Nebraska..."

I started hearing about it through some comments on here yesterday.

So to those of you being silly about this, and calling us negative, grow up. It's a legitmate concern.

So trolls feeding other trolls and Dr. Paul leading in the polls in Iowa amongst Iowans is definitely a legitimate concern to the establishment status quo hacks.

Ok but who's gonna proclaim to the masses that they just came from their apartment two blocks away? Of course people who came from far are gonna be the loudest about that.

it's not a "blatant lie". something that doesn't fit our desired narrative doesn't automatically constitute a lie. a reporter for CNN yesterday said they asked a room of 20 people at a whistle stop (before it began as they were filing in) who was from Iowa and one person raised their hand. it's a serious concern.

You mean they asked the first 20 that filled which were in the front two rows.
