Mitt Romney Romney: "Ron Paul is a very serious candidate"

Unfortunately it will work for him to a certain extent. He loves the idea of a 1 vs. 1 race against Paul.. He thinks he will be defeat him handily, and that's why he's being so nice to Ron. We are indeed the underdog in such a fight, but I think Romney truly underestimates us when the cameras are off.

Yep.

Sadly, I wouldn't vote for a Romney/Paul ticket. Thankfully, if Ron's career has shown anything, he will NEVER sell out. I'll happily write-in RP if he doesn't get the nom and laugh as the GOP disintegrates by their own actions.

I can't really see Ron accepting the VP slot either, even if it were offered. I bet he'll think he can be more effective as a private citizen if he doesn't get the nomination. But I can definitely see Romney offering the spot to RAND. And Rand accepting (which sets him up nicely for the top seat later on). And Ron endorsing that ticket.

What if Romney were to lose even 1 state to a non-serious candidate like Ron Paul? I wouldn't think too much of it. This is all part of both camps' strategies. Make it a two-man race. Ron think he can beat Romney, Romney thinks he can beat Paul.

As he is a strict opportunist, I think Mitt would consider either Ron or Ron for the VP slot. Coalescing his support with ours is really his only shot at beating Obama. However, I think the neocon wing will 'talk' him out of it. They would probably prefer Obama over the Pauls being anywhere near the whitehouse.

I think Romulas felt the sting of being hateful to us the last time. Laughing at us no less that made a lot of his supporters fiery mad.

He knows what blow back means

Interesting point. However, there needs to be something in place to better assure that the support leaving Gingrich, Santorum, and Perry will be drawn into the Paul camp, and not the Romney camp. I have a feeling that once people bite the bullet and get behind Romney, we will have a difficult time provoking any further consideration. Last I saw, Romney remains 2nd choice for a lot of these people.
